“I’m sorry ma’am; we can’t keep requests for more than a month. We sent letters to your address and sent emails as well, telling you this, but you never replied to them.”
“I had it booked for today! I swear I did.” I raised my voice to the man, “I never got any e-mails or letters!”
“I assure you Miss Davis, your request was for November 5th,” He pulled out a large book and flicked through until he stopped it at “D”. He then ran his finger down the contents and flipped through again. “Look,” He rested his finger on the page, signalling for me to read.
Ashley Davis, November 5th, 2012
“But I didn’t,” I mumbled, “And even if I did book it for then, I sure didn’t get any letters.”
“Is this your address ma’am?” The man pointed at another set of information.
192 Ashburn Drive
“No,” I told him, “That’s... that’s my old address.” Thousands of memories flashed before me and I had to take a large gulp before speaking again.
“After you didn’t reply to them, we sent you five e-mails if I recall correctly.”
“My laptop broke and I don’t have enough money for a new one and my mum doesn’t have one either.”
“Well, I’m sorry miss, but we don’t have any available places at this moment. But I will be sure to contact you when we do. There are other hotels around about that you co-”
“Leave it,” I said under my breath.
I haven’t a clue where I will go until I can get back home, but I’ll just have to get mum to come and get me or something. This is such a mess. Just as I lifted my bags, I saw a group of guys about my age strolling into the hotel.
“Monroe! Have you turned away this beautiful young woman?” The blonde haired guy at the front of the pack called out.
“There have been some complications with her order, Cody,” The manager said.
“So she has no place to stay?” The guy standing beside Cody said.
I shook my head.
“Well that just can’t do,” another one said.
“Here, boys,” One hollered.
As the boys filled over to a corner and stood in a circle with their arms resting on each other’s backs, I counted that there were four altogether – two blonde and two with brown hair, one of which had blonde streaks running through it. I stood awkwardly, not knowing if I should continue with my exit, or wait to hear the boy’s decision.
After a couple of minutes of awkward waiting, the boys turned around and walked up to the desk.
“If you want, you can stay with us,” The blonde haired one who called me a ‘beautiful young woman’ earlier, said.
I looked at Monroe to ask telepathically if I should trust them to not be like Darren.
“Go on, Monroe,” the other blonde one said, “Tell her what lovely kids we are,” He smiled.
Monroe laughed. “They’re immature, annoying and they drive me up the walls so I don’t know if you could handle them or not – but they would look after you. You might even have an influence on them to knock some sense into them,” Mr. Monroe told me.
