Hello,

If you're reading this, you're probably familiar with fan fiction. Fan Fiction by definition is:

noun

: stories involving popular fictionalcharacters that are written by fans and often posted on the Internet-called also fan fic, \-ˈfik\

First use: 1944

(From the Merriam-Webster Dictionary)

In my mind, fanfiction is a great way to get out ideas about one's favorite fictional characters (or real celebrities and people) such as Sherlock Holmes, Percy Jackson, Harry Potter, Youtubers (Ricky Dillon, Connor Franta, Jack and Finn, etc.), Tris and Four, Hazel and Augustus, Edward Elric, Katniss, and many many others. Some people think that fanfics are copying the original authors, but ponder this:

Here's a story about a boy named Tony. Tony finds out that he has substantial powers or talents, but is in danger. He goes on all sorts of adventures and makes friends and enemies along the way. A couple people betray him. He almost dies a couple times. But in the end, he defeats the evil force and for the most part, every thing is well (unless he dies in the process, which wouldn't be surprising at all actually).

Although Tony is an original character, doesn't his story sound familiar? Hmmm...

Oh wait. That sounds like Harry Potter, Percy Jackson, the Hunger Games, Fullmetal Alchemist, Divergent, Death Note. Heck, it sounds like some stories in the Bible!

So what's my point? People love those stories despite the similarities. If your story is truly original, although I hate to say it, most people won't like it. Fan fiction is a great way to practice writing in general and expand your imagination, so I say, go ahead, write that fan fiction. But before you do, you might want to read this book...

This book will have various parts.

Mainly, it will be about various fanfic cliches based by each fandom. Please note that I haven't read a lot of books, seen certain shows, and am not in certain fandoms, so Here are the fanfics that I will most likely be writing about.

I. One Direction

(although I'm not their biggest fan[No, I don't want to marry Harry Styles] I used to be obsessed and read a lot of fanfics about them)

II. Percy Jackson

III. Hunger Games

These will be critical and sarcastic, but are in no way supposed to be mean. I will not be stating the username of the author or of the book. These are mostly general opinions of mine, or random, annoying things.

In between, i'll just be writing little grammar/spelling tips, and other stuff.

So yeah, hope you enjoy!

-Elise
