Rogue POV
Slowly as I walked onto the road I could see everything coming towards me all at once.
"Fuck you!" I yelled at Phoenix as she stopped the car in front of me.
"What?!" She yelled from the window.
"YOU ALMOST HIT ME!" I exclaimed as I jumped into the trailer of the ute.
"Your fault for being a MOFO!" I rolled my eyes as I climbed into the ute.
"That was so funny I forgot to laugh. Where's Edana?" I asked and Phoenix laughed.
"Probably studying." She said and I chuckled as I climbed over to the passenger seat. "Why didn't you just get in through the door?" Phoenix asked as I turned on the radio.
"Well, for one I thought Ed was in the front seat and two, I like a challenge." We began driving and I looked around. "Hey... Where is... Everyone?" I asked as I looked at the deserted town.
"Hmmm?" Freya asked as she tapped her hand on the wheel to the beat of the music.
"Never mind." I mumbled as I looked out the window. Summer vacation just started and the thought of no one being outside was strange. This Is How We Do by Katy Perry came on and I spun in my seat to turn up the music.
"This song?" Phoenix gave me an annoyed look as I began to sing along and I grinned.
"This is a good song." I stated as I ran my fingers through my hair. We stopped in front of Edana's house as soon as the song ended and I rang the doorbell. "This is how we do, yeah, chillin' laid back, straight, stuntin', yeah we do it like that." I screamed and Edana opened the door.
"Shut up." She yelled as she pulled us into the house.
"What?!" Phoenix asked as I chewed on my hair.
"Haven't you heard of the disease?!" Edana asked and I piped up.
"ZOMBIES?!" I yelled and she covered my mouth.
"Practically. It's a disease that feasts on the brain of others and is spread through bites. It's infected about 20% of the Earth's population already." I widened my eyes and grinned.
"Awesome." I stated and Phoenix hit me on the head.
"Idiot." She muttered and I rolled my eyes.
"Wait... My family." I immediately went into a panic. "I need to check on them!" I yelled as I ran towards the door. Phoenix and Edana grabbed me and pulled me back.
"We can't you idiot!" Edana hissed and I glared at her.
"Fine!" I exclaimed and I ran to her phone. As I dialed my mum's phone she answered.
"Hello?! Who is this?!" Her voice was full of panic and I started crying.
"Mum! Mum it's me! It's Rogue! Thank God you're okay! I'm at Edana's!" I held back tears as she sighed with relief. "Is everyone else okay?!" I asked.
"Yeah, they're fine. I just checked on everyone and your father is here with me. Now, you need to stay there and stay safe." I was wiping tears from my eyes furiously.
"Mummy I love you." I said. I felt embarrassed to say mummy in front of my friends, especially since I was seventeen but, I needed to say it. I felt like I was a toddler again. Afraid of the monsters under the bed and running to my parent's room. Now was different though. The monsters, were real. Nothing was going to stop these monsters from terrorizing everyone.
"I love you too." The phone line was then disconnected. Someone or something cut the line.
"What happened?" Edana asked and I looked at the phone in my hand.
"Someone cut the lines." Edana gulped and Phoenix walked over to the fireplace. "Where's your family?" I asked Edana and she looked at me with sad eyes.
"Infected."
