I squeal inside. This is so exciting that I can hardly contain myself!
"My name is Professor Yurie. We study magic so we know how to use it. Everyone can do it, but we want to make sure that you students do it right. This class gets you ready for your individual classes. Like you for example," she points one long finger at a Faerie that I have never met before. "You have individual classes for only Faeries, so you learn Faerie magic. This is just a prep up."
Oh. so, we are not learning magic?
"Now. let us start with the basics. Levitating."
Seriously? I do not even need to learn how to levitate! I have wings! I can fly!
"Now you Faeries, Griffins, Pegasi, and Dragons, you can sit this one out."
A chorus of groans echo as the people named back away and sit in the grass. I join them. The levitating practice lasts the whole period and all we do is sit here. Wow, how fun. For the second time today, I am happy to hear the chimes ring.
Faerie class is next. Hopefully this one will be a little more exciting, considering both classes so far have bored me so much.
As I make my way to my next class I see Zatanna in the halls. I give her a friendly wave but in return, I get another glare. What is up with her? I step into room fourteen and find a seat in the front row. Seems like I am always early because I find myself being the first one again. I sit patiently until someone else walks in the room. It's Nixie.
"Nixie! I forgot we had Faerie Class together! Sit by me!"
She smiles and takes a seat to the left of me.
"How have your classes been so far?" she asks as she plays with one long strand of blue hair.
"Interesting. How about you?"
"Oooh, I met the cutest Merboy in Literature. He sits next to me and guess what he said?"
"What?"
"'Hi!' I totally think he likes me!" Nixie gives a small excited squeal and I laugh.
The door bursts open again and tons of Faeries fly in all at once; closely followed by Professor Honeydew, our Faerie teacher. Professor Honeydew flies to the front of the room and speaks in a high, authoritative voice.
"Good morning, young sprites. Today you will learn the art of Faeries. I would like to start this class with simple magic." Finally, some magic! "You there," she says, pointing all the way to the back of the room. "What is your name?"
"Duran," I hear my twin mumble. Oh, I had forgotten about Duran.
"Well, Duran. Will you please demonstrate Faerie dust for us?"
He nods and holds out his palms. Tiny gold flecks of sparks shoot out and then fall all along his desk before disappearing.
"Very good, Duran," praises Professor Honeydew. "You may take a seat." He nods and then slumps back into his chair. I smile at him and give a small wave. He pretends not to notice. "Now, everyone. To expand Faerie dust, you must concentrate very hard on what will you desire the dust to fulfill. For example," she holds her palms side by side and then a large vine shoots up and intertwines itself through the desks of the room. Oohs and ahhs are heard throughout the class. "See, young Faeries, if you believe, your Faerie dust can do anything. Let's see what you can do," she says as she points at a boy Faerie and he stands. "You try."
The boy nods sheepishly and squeezes his eyes shut. A small mouse pops up from his palms and scurries around his arms and back. Everyone laughs.
"Very good," Professor Honeydew says, pleased. "Your turn," she points to the boy next to me and he sprouts a small daisy. "Very good," she says yet again. "Now you." She points to me.
