I heard someone call my name

It was an empty, endless hallway.

I don't know why I came here.

I don't know what I'm doing here.

But I can feel it.

Dread.

Something made me run towards the direction of the sound. Listening to it gave me many contradictory feelings- it was a sweet sound, but desperate.

The echo resounded in the entire hallway. The walls were a dull grey color, and yet the windows glowed red. Even the white clothing I was wearing looked red in here.

The hallway finally ended at a huge door, which read out-

Ho_____tal I_U

I couldn't make out the words.

A nostalgic feeling overtook me. I felt like I could make out the spelling by memory.

I tried, but got tired.

I opened the door. The sight before me left me dumbfounded.

A woman lay on the ground, unconscious. She had raven black hair spread around in a mess, and pale skin. She looked dead, if it weren't for her faint breathing.

Yet somehow, she gave off an a comfortable feeling of familiarity. It was like I was part of her. I felt that I had her scent etched on to the corner of my mind.

There was blood splattered everywhere on the floor, which was clearly coming out of her. Where was it even coming from? She didn't have a wound-

"Meow"

The source of the sound was a black cat sitting right beside the woman. Tail swishing around left and right, it licked its paws before looking up at me. It's golden eyes seemed to pierce right through.

Everything happened in a moment.

Before I could say a word, the woman lying on the ground opened her eyes. She grabbed the cat by its tail, and tore it up using her nails- and teeth. The cats insides tore out of it's body and were completely visible to me.

"Run"

It didn't take a second command from the lady to get me on my heels. I ran and ran, out into the hallway, waiting to find the other end to this passage until....

I woke up.

I sat up on my bed with a jerk. The weather was really pleasant today. I could make out the birds chirping out of my bedroom window.

I heard someone call my name.

It was mom.

She said that breakfast was ready.

Sheepishly, I got out of my bedroom, and sat down on the dining table.

I could tell from the delectable smell of breakfast that she was making my favorite meal.

"Baby, time to rise and shine. It's your Birthday today!"

Her smile radiated warmth like the sun that emerged from behind the clouds after a rainy day. She was trying so hard to make this day special, even as my single teenage mother.

I smiled back.
