I'm Not Sick

Leah was laying in bed twirling her phone since it was a day off for the Avengers. She could already tell it was going to be gloomy day cause it was dark and cloudy out. About an hour later she heard it start to rain and she smiled so big. Rain made her miss being back home in Georgia where she use to play in the rain all the time even though it made her sick afterwards she didn't care.

She got herself out of bed and got dressed and pulled on a pair of her rain boots. She walked out of her room and headed up to the roof. She started to dance around in the rain as it continued to pour. Bucky was in the training room when he noticed that Leah never came down and Nat said "Where's Leah?'

Everyone shrugged their shoulders in an "I don't know" motion. Nat said "FRIDAY is Leah still asleep?'

"No. It appears that Ms McKinley is playing in the rain on the roof." FRIDAY said 

Bucky started laughing and said "Of course she is. She's 22 years old and still loves to play in the rain and in the snow." 

When she came back in after a few hours of dancing and splashing she took a hot shower and then went and did her workout. She went to the grocery store with Natasha and got groceries for the week. She thought that she had outgrown her weak immune system since normally she would get sick right away. 

The next morning she woke up with a stuffed up nose and coughing. She was walking down the hall into the kitchen coughing sounding awful. Bucky heard her and he said "Doll.."as she rounded the corner.

"I'm fine." she said sounding very congested.

"You don't sound fine." Steve said 

She started coughing and said "I'm not sick I'm fine." 

After breakfast she continued to get worse as she went through a box of Kleenex and a bag of cough drops. She laid and went to sleep on the couch in the game room where everyone else was playing games. Nat said "FRIDAY check Leah's vitals and temperature?' 

"IT Appears that she has a fever." FRIDAY said as Nat held her vital reader over Leah.

"She needs to go to the doctor." Bucky said 

"She won't go. She is stubborn." Wanda said 

Bucky woke her up and said "You have a fever and you went through a box of Kleenex and a bag of cough drops you need to go see Dr Cho." 

"No I'm not sick I run hot." she said 

Bucky picked her up and put her over his shoulder and said "Fine then you won't listen to me then I'll make you go." 

"Bucky put me down right now. I'm not sick I'm fine." she said as she yelled.

He held her over his shoulder while they were in the elevator and then they got the medical bay floor. "I need an exam room for Ms McKinley for her to see Dr Cho."

"In here Bucky" Dr Cho said 

She checked her over and said "Ms McKinley you are in fact sick you have a sinus infection and double ear infection. Take these antibiotics for the sinus infection and put these ear drops in your ears for the ear infections. I've spoken with your mother who said as a kid you use to get sick like this all the time when you would play in the rain or snow. So I'm assuming that you played in the rain yesterday." 

She sighed and said "Yes I did I don't care." 

"Bucky since you share a suite with her I need you keep an eye on her and make sure she doesn't get worse cause she does have a little bit of asthma as well." Dr Cho said 

Leah looked down and he said "Well that certainly explains the weak immune system cause Steve use to be the same way before the serum." 

"Shut up." she said as she took her medicine and left the medical bay. 

Bucky left and headed to the pharmacy and bought a ton of chicken noodle soup another box of Kleenex and cough drops. He remembered when he would get sick his mom would give him a little bit of whiskey so he went by the liquor store and bought the stuff his mom would use to make him some cough medicine. When he got back he found her sleeping on the couch in their living room suite.

He went into their kitchenette and made her some soup then woke her up "Hey darlin wake up I got you some soup." he whispered as he shook her gently.

She started to stir awake and he started to feed her some soup as she sat up and he said 'You are sick doll and I'm going to take care of you just like I use to do for Steve." 

"Buck you don't have to do that." she said 

"Yes I do I need my partner and best friend in tip top shape cause we have a mission next week." he said as he fed her another bite. 

After she finished her soup he said "Here drink this it's what my mom use to give me it has a little bit of whiskey in it. She use to call it a Hot Totty" he said with a laugh. 

She did the shot and she said "Oh god that burns." 

"But it will help clear it up darlin." he said 

She stretched back out on the couch and he slipped off his shoes and laid beside her. She started to slowly fall back asleep as she was sleeping she was so congested that she was choking in her sleep. Bucky woke up and sighed he woke her up and said "Sweetheart come on let's get in the bed." 

He fixed his bed with pillows to prop her up to keep her from choking then put the ear drops in her ear again. Over the next several days Bucky tended to her and made sure she was taking her medicine and getting enough rest and eating. 

By day 5 of her cold she was sounding so much better and not as congested. She walked downstairs to eat breakfast and he said "Morning doll how are you feeling?'

"I'm fine.." she said 

"You sound better" Steve said

"Yeah apparently she's like you pre-serum Steve weak immune system and some asthma." Bucky said as he ate his pancakes.

"Well then you were definitely in good hands Leah." Steve said 

She smiled and said "That I was.. um but I'm not feeling 100 percent do you think someone else could go in my place. It was Dr Cho's suggestion this morning." 

"Yeah she told me I've already arranged that me and Sam are going to go with Bucky since those two don't get along." he said

She laughed and said "That's good." she ate her breakfast then went back to bed. 

When Bucky got back two days later he found her sleeping in one of his shirts on their couch. He said "Dollbaby what's wrong." 

"I missed you." She said as she woke up. 

"Missed me." he said

"Yeah.." she said as she looked down. 

"You feel better?' he said 

"Yeah I just um missed you that's all." she said 

"I missed you too sweetheart." he said as he leaned in and kissed her.

She started to kiss back when he started open mouth kisses as he laid her back on the couch. "I'm glad you feel better baby cause I've been wanting to kiss for awhile now." he whispered in between kisses.
