On a particularly foggy night off the coast of a small island; an island only big enough to house one village, a tiny wooden boat approached the shore.
The boat seemed to be moving on its own, no oars in sight, if looked at from a certain angle a slight glow could be seen coming from it.
In the boat was a hooded figure that appeared to be holding a bundle of cloth in its arms.

Reaching the shoreline in what seemed like no time at all the figure glided out of the boat and headed toward the nearest building.
It placed the bundle in front of the building and in the process the bundle opened up to reveal a baby who couldn't have been anymore than a few weeks old.
The feature that stood out the most was the baby's bright crimson hair, the figure swiftly covered the baby back up and ran back to the boat, before getting into the boat it turned around and raised a feminine hand, close by a stone floated up mimicking the movement of the hand and with a flick of a wrist the stone hurtled toward the door of the building, an audible thud could be heard through the village, the figure jumped back on the boat and vanished with the fog.

Startled by the noise an old man went to the front door, upon opening the door he saw the bundle of cloth on the floor.
"What's this?" He wondered aloud.
Uncovering the cloth there lay a sleeping baby girl, crimson hair shining in the moonlight. The girl moved her head and a lock of crimson hair fell away from a pointed ear.
I'd heard of these creatures with pointed ears, I didn't believe they were real!
"Honey, look what I found on the doorstep!" The man exclaimed with excitement as he picked the girl up and reentered his house.

The mans wife saw the baby's crimson hair and gasped.
"Henry, what is that?" Her voice hitching slightly.
"Mei" calmly stroking his wife's cheek in reassurance.
"How long have we been married?"
"50 years" Mei replied confused
"Exactly, and in 50 years we've never been able to have children"
"That may be true bu-"
"It is true. Mei don't you see, we now have the opportunity to raise a child of our own"
"Henry, I don't feel comfortable raising somebody else's child"
"Listen Mei, 50 years we've been married, and 50 years I've been praying to God for a child, 50 YEARS, I'm not about to leave this child to fend for herself, we will raise her"
"I do hope you know what you are doing, what shall we name her then?"
"I've been thinking about that, her name will be Hikari Kuro, Hikari meaning Light because when I found her she filled me with hope, and Kuro meaning Black because when you saw her you were gripped with fear"
"Okay Henry you've convinced me, we will raise this child as our own"
