Nerris stood there wide eyed for a moment as Harrison approached the two. He had a warm, cheerful smile on his face, that is until he realized who he got to show around the school.
He stopped once he had made it over to them, locking eyes with the not-so-young elfkin. Mrs. Lauren was confused for a moment or two, then she finally decided to speak up. "Is everything. . . Okay?" She asked, seeming genuinely concerned.
This snapped Nerris and Harrison out of their little daze and Harrison looked to Mrs. Lauren. "Sorry, just a bit shocked because I've met her before." He replied, his hand on the back of his neck nervously.
Mrs. Lauren let out a small gasp. "Perfect! Amazing, wonderful, spectacular!" She exclaimed with excitement. The two kids exchanged confused looks. "So, I assume there won't be any problems between you two?" She asked as she tried to pull herself together.
"Nope, no problems at all." Harrison responded. Though that was technically a lie, he didn't want to tell Mrs. Lauren that Nerris seemed to despise him. She'd just make it a big deal and talk to them for about an hour until she's convinced that they're best friends.
Nerris shot him a look that said "what?" "Awesome! Er- uh. . . Excellent, I'll leave you be for now, come by the office when you're done, I'll give you your schedule then." She said. Nerris gave her a nod and she went on her way.
Harrison turned to Nerris and they locked eyes again. "So, I didn't expect to see you here." He said awkwardly, trying to spark up a conversation. She sighed. "Yeah. . . Haven't seen you in like, what? Three-four years now?" She responded. Harrison nodded in response.
"Damn, that's a long time. . . I mean, not that I care or anything." She crossed her arms. A slight smirk appeared on Harrison's face.
"I guess you should show me around now, so we can get this over with." She said, changing the subject as she kept her arms crossed. She was still the Nerris that he met a few years ago.
"Sassy." He replied jokingly. "Okay, so let's get on with the grand tour." He continued with a chuckle. They began walking toward the lockers. "So, first off," he started, stopping in front of one. "This ones yours. Here's your combination." He finished as he took off his hat and pulled a small paper out of it.
"I still don't know how the hell you do that, honestly." Nerris said, taking the piece of paper from him as he put his hat back on. She looked at the combination, going over it a few times in her head.
"Well, the answers simple, it's m-" he started, but Nerris cut him off. "Don't you fucking dare." She put a finger up to his lips to shush him. He rolled his eyes then used his own hand to gently push her finger away from his face.
She slipped the paper into her back pocket and nodded to him, signaling that he could begin showing her around again. "Okay, next up," he started, turning the other way as he began walking, Nerris trailing behind.
He stopped in front of a small, busted up drinking fountain. "This isn't really part of the tour but be aware of this son of a bitch. It likes to spray you when it feels like it." He said as he pointed to it. "Good to know." Nerris replied with a nod.
They continued, Harrison showed Nerris everything necessary. The cafeteria, where every classroom was, the library, the nurses office, the gym, the principals office and the bathrooms. She kept telling herself where everything was in her head, hoping she wouldn't get lost when Harrison wasn't there to guide her around.
"And that concludes our tour. Any questions?" He asked. They had stopped where they had began, at the door. She didn't hesitate to reply. "Just one, why in the magical hell did I end up in the same school as you?" She asked, half jokingly.
"Guess it's fate." The illusionist replied with a smirk. "You should get to the principals office now to get your schedule, see ya later." He added before walking off. She hung onto his words for a minute.
Fate? What did he mean by that?
She eventually shook it off and began walking toward the principals office to get her schedule, knowing she had already been late for her first class as the bell rang whilst Harrison showed her around. Though, Mrs. Lauren came by and told her it was fine and she could just head to her next class. She didn't want to miss that one.
She looked around as she walked, she only saw a few students in the halls. Some were talking at their lockers and others were alone. She was minding her own business when suddenly, a girl came up to her.
She had long, brown hair and forest green eyes. Nerris noticed she was wearing a light blue dress, though she thought a different color would suit her better.
The look on her face told Nerris she didn't have good intentions. At all.
"Uh... can I help you?" Nerris asked. "No, but you'll need help if you don't stay away from Harrison." The girl glared at her. "Who exactly are you?" Nerris asked sassily. The girl seemed offended.
"You don't need to know who I am. Just stay the fuck away from him. He's mine, so back off." She shot back. "Okay then... I gotta get going now, hon. See ya on the flippity side, bitch." Nerris said as she slipped past the mysterious girl.
She let out a growl as she turned around, seeing Nerris walk away without a care. Though, Nerris did care.
Who the hell is this bitch and why does she care so much about Harrison?
The thought stuck with her until she finally made it to the principals office.
