In the dark musty room silence prevailed. No screams permeated the air and all that could be heard was the harsh breathing from Heramia.

Suddenly with a loud bang. The windows to the room had flung open from a gale of wind, that knocked the rickety wood off its hinges.
The sky had cleared up from the horrendous black clouds to let through the silvery white light from the moon.

Slowly the stark white beam crept into the room. Everyone held their breath in anticipation, for what? Nobody knew.

As the sparkly light went towards the lifeless form, cradled in the arms of a helper, all eyes were diverted to the light and the black haired boy. Slowly tendrils of milky light wrapped around the body of the poor breathless child. A high pitch scream sluiced the air and the maid holding the child nearly jumped out of her skin. The helper holding onto Heramia's hand, ungracefully met the floor with a thud and crack from her skull.

A couple of days later, Heramia cuddled her new born son to her ample chest and cooed over the beauty he held. She gently ran her fingers through his hair when she saw the drastic transformation of his beautiful raven lock's. She quickly made her way to her husbands side, nudging him till he saw exactly what she had been seeing. Hoping and praying to her gods that she was not delusional.

Their babies pitch black hair had fallen off and just as gracefully been replaced with pin straight white strands. His hair no longer held the curls his father had blessed him with, but was as straight as the mountain grass blades. His skin no longer held a light red pigmentation but was pale and creamy. His once brown eyes had transformed into a stormy gray and blue, so intense his own mother had to glance away in fear of him seeing her very soul. His eyes so light, they almost blended into the whites of his big doe eyes.

Mika blinked a few times from the irritation in his eyes and stared up at his shocked parents. As soon as he recognized his mother's teary voice, Mika let loose a broad toothless smile and gurgles of merriment escaped his blood red lips. His father stared at his gorgeous Mika in awe and wonderment, as salty tears burned the backs of his eyelids and scorched a path down his ruddy, weather worn cheek's.

Heramia had never seen Chester cry,not even when they took and oath to love and cherish each other for eternity, yet here was her burly ,strong headed husband silently weeping with joy as he gazed upon his child.
She snuggled into his wide chest and tilted her head and stood on her toes, until she kissed the underside of his bearded jaw.

Chester placed a protectively large hand on Heramia's tiny waist and pulled her more securely into him. Chester could not believe that, him and his beautiful wife, had created such a small, fragile human being. With unexpected affection and adrenaline, he scooped Heramia into his unealdingly strong arms. She let out a breathlessly tiny sqeak and shifted to find a better position for her and the baby in her beloveds arms.

“Gentlemen carry on without me. All have their instructions for the mornings routine, complete your tasks and have the day to your wives and children”, boomed Chester,in a gruff and deep baritoned voice that could shake mountains.

He slowly and gently,so as not to wake his son, turned on his heel and hiked the rest of the path, leading to a ginormous house set upon the slope. As the family of thee made their way into the house and uncaring of the mess he left behind, Chester made his way into his and Heramia's room.

That day, Chester solemnly vowed to protect his small family and gift the moon goddess once a year to mark and thank her for her blessing until the day he passed...
