Kate never felt like she was a completely normal human being. She always felt like she had some extra weight on her shoulders. But she didn't complain about it. She sat in her room all to her self most of the time.

The only things that could get her out her room was: school, marching band, food, or the mall.

At school she was a caring friend who always took other peoples problems as her own. Marching band was like one huge family where she liked and knew almost everyone, especially the drum line she was apart of. Food is one of her favorite things although she doesn't eat a lot. And the mall, well, she just liked to people watch.

People fascinated Kate. She had been around people for a good sixteen years now and still people fascinated her. She loved to see how people acted around one another. She felt distant from the world when she people watched and, in some strange way, it gave her an escape from reality.

This particular day she was sitting in the mall watching a man walk into the flower shop, buy some rather beautiful flowers, and walk out with a huge smile plastered on his face.

Kate smirked because she knew he'd give it to his special someone. ""Any man buying flowers with that big of a grin has something special planed."" She thought to her self.

A guy plopped down on the bench beside her, interrupting her train of thought. "You know starring at people is weird. Right?" She whipped her head around with a comeback that was pure venom but quickly held her tongue when she saw just how handsome this stranger was.

He looked about seventeen, dark blonde hair, leather jacket, Metallica shirt on underneath, and piercing green eyes.

"Um.. Hi." Was all Kate said because she hadn't really talked to a random person in the mall before. She mainly just stayed to herself.

"Hey, I'm Dean. What's your name?"he asked, determined to get an answer from this girl he thought was out of his league, but Dean being the cocky son of a bitch that he is, would not let that stop him.

"I'm Kate. Nice to meet you... Is it really that weird I people watch?" Not that it mattered to her what his answer was going to be. She just wanted to strike up a conversation.

"Nah, it's just... Different. But that's okay." He said simply. He didn't realize he was starring at her until she turned her head and met his eyes with her own.

"Now your person watching, you know that's weird. Right?" She repeated with a big grin on her face.

"Not my fault you so beautiful." He said sweetly, blushing slightly.

She quickly looked down at the floor blushing deeply saying "Well gosh, haha, thanks but your not so bad lookin yourself." she looked back up at him wondering what he's reaction would be.

He smirked, happy to know she likes him. He looks around and asks "So how do you do the people watch?"

"What d'ya mean?" Kate asked kinda confused.

"I mean how dose one go about watching people? Is there a method to the madness?" He replied. He really has never just sat down and watched people before.

"Well, I guess so. I mean, what I do is I sit here, just about every Saturday, and look for people who are different. For example, see that guy over there?" She points to the sales clerk at the ice cream hut.

"He steals cash out the register. You know how? He enters in the wrong amount and takes the difference. It's a small amount but it adds up over time I guess."

Dean looks at her quizzically. "No way. How do you know?"

"Well, these girls bought smoothies and were walking past me. I over heard one saying how he charged her a little bit more for it telling her they haven't changed the prices on the outside yet. Then later I'd seen him, several times, take small amounts of change from the drawer." She explains.

They watch a little girl get ice cream. "Watch his hands when the drawer opens." She whispers. Sure enough they watch him slip a quarter into a jar under the counter.

Dean looks back at Kate in amazement. "You know you can blackmail him now, right?"

"Nah, I'm not that kind of person." She looks back into his wonderful eyes and smiles a little.

"Then what kind of person are you?" Dean tilted his head slightly.

"Well, Dean, that really wouldn't be fair if I just outright told you, now would it?"

"Your right, Kate, that wouldn't. So maybe I might just have to find out the hard way..." She gave him a puzzled look and let him explain.

"We can meet up here next Saturday if you'd like? So I can get to know what type of person you are. is that okay?" Dean was really nervous she was going to say no.

"Yea, sure. How about here at 12:30-ish?" She was trying to hide her excitement.

"Um, yea, okay." Dean was really thrilled about this but he wouldn't give that away.

"DEAN! DEAN! Who's your girlfriend!!" A little boy ran up to Dean grinning from ear to ear.

"SAMMY!!!" He whipped his head around to give his little brother a stern look.

The little boy pushes past his brother and holds his hand out to Kate. "Hi. I'm Sam Winchester, Dean's little brother. "

Kate takes his hand and shakes it lightly. "Hello Sam, I'm Kate Novak. Dean's friend."

"Well, dad needs me and Dean now so we have to go. But I'm sure Dean will want to see you again." Dean gave his brother a you're-going-to-get-it-later look then turned to Kate.

"Well, I guess I'll see you next Saturday at 12:30-ish?"

"It's a date." Kate could hear Sam saying "ohhhh Dean has a daaateee" as they were walking away.

Kate smiled and giggled to herself.

BEST. DAY. EVER.
