Its been a few days since dinner with the Wilkinsons. I couldn't get out of my head what Sam had said to me before he left. The phrase was glued into my head. I tried everything to get it out of my head, nothing worked.

I woke up around 11 today feeling well rested. It was a bright sunny day so I decided to go lay out in my backyard by the pool. I put my hair up into a high bun and put on my favorite white bandeau. I grabbed my phone, a towel, some headphones, and my sun glasses and headed outside. I set myself up on a chair in my backyard. It was so hot but laying out felt so good.

I had been laying outside for about an hour until I heard someone opening the fence to the pool. I lifted up my sunglasses and realized it was Sam. He walked in shirtless and covered in sweat. I couldn't help but to look at his well sculpted body and his messy hair. I quickly got up and wrapped the towel around myself, feeling self conscious.

"Sam, what are you doing here"

"I noticed you were out here and wanted to come say hi" he said with a cheeky smile. I thought I had hear someone dribbling a basketball somewhere near my house and I guess it was Sam. "So what have you been up to lately" he asked

"Oh you know, just enjoying my summer I guess. What about you?" I said

"Just been working on basketball so I don't get rusty before college" he said with a cute little giggle and flashed that beautiful smile of his. "So Grace," he said with a nervous tone "Ever since dinner with our families I haven't been able to get you out of my head" he said as he looked down and scratched the back of his neck. I mean I felt the same about him since then also, should I tell him or will that seem too desperate? I thought to myself. "Grace I just want a chance with you. Just one. If you don't feel the same about me after just one date I will leave you alone. I promise" he said looking into my eyes.

"Sam, you can stop rambling, I'll go on a date with you" I said with a little bit of a laugh.

"Oh god, good. I had no idea what I would have done if you would have said no" he said relieved "So how does tomorrow at 7 sound?"

"Great, I'll see you then" not being able to wipe the smile off my face. And with that Sam flashed one last smile at me before walking out of the fence back to his house.

The rest of the day went pretty fast. I laid outside for a few hours afterwards then my mom, my sister and I went out to eat and go shopping for a few hours. By the time we got home I was so tired and ready to go to sleep. I changed to my PJs and took my makeup off. I turned on my TV and fell into my bed and went on my phone. I fell asleep soon after.

I woke up the next morning and remembered my date with Sam, I couldn't stop smiling. I decided I would just lay around today and save my energy for tonight since I had no idea what Sam had planned. I watched a few movies and took a nap. I woke up at around 5:30 and decided to start getting ready. I showered and did really light natural makeup and straightened my hair. I decided I would dress semi casual so I put on light wash jean shorts with a white flowy tank top and brought along my maroon cardigan in case it got cold. by now it was 6:45 and I decided to lay on the couch with my phone until I heard a knock at the door. I ran up the stairs and opened the door.

"Hey Sam, come in I have to grab my shoes quick. Hang on just a sec" I said as I ran up the stairs to grab my grey vans. When I came back I saw my mom and Sam talking. Oh god I forgot to tell my mom.

"Oh Grace, you never told me you and Sam were going on a date" my mom said with a smirk.

"Sorry mom I totally forgot to tell you" I said

"Well you two go out and have a good time. Sam, just make sure she is back by 1" said my mom

"No problem Ms.Miller" said Sam looking back and waving as we walked out the door.

"I walked over here so my car is still over at my house" said Sam

"Thats no problem" I said

We walked over to Sams house and he opened the door of his black Jeep for me and shut it after I got inside.

"So Sam, where are we going tonight" I asked

"Be patient, you'll see" he said back to me

Finally we pulled into the parking lot of Oska (a restaurant in Iowa). I had never been here before but I trusted Sam. Once we got in there we went and sat down and ordered. They soon brought it to us and started cooking our food right in front of us. I was so intrigued. As they were cooking the food I felt a warm hand on my  leg. I jumped a little bit but then realized it was just Sam and relaxed a little bit. His hand didn't move the rest of the night. I had a great time with Sam. We talked and laughed the whole night. He was such an amazing guy. I got butterflies every single time he smiled at me. The check came for dinner and I knew Sam was going to insist he pays but I had to seem like I wasn't completely selfish so I turned around to pull out my wallet but Sam immediately knew what I was doing and said he would pay.

We left the restaurant and since we were in downtown we decided to walk around the city because it was so pretty at night. We just got to take in the beauty of the city. We took a few pictures and soon headed back to the car. On our way home I had my arm on the center console of the car and Sam put his hand on mine gently rubbing my knuckles. I looked up and smiled at him. The car ride was pretty quiet most of the ride home with the exception of music from his phone. But it was a comfortable type of silent.

We pulled into Sams driveway and he came around and opened the door for me. He walked me back over to my house and we stood in front of my door on the porch.

"I had a great time tonight Grace, thank you for agreeing to go out with me" He said shooting me one of his famous smiles that gave me butterflies

"No problem Sam, I had a great time too. I hope we can do it again sometime" I said as Sam pulled me into a hug.

"For sure, I'll see you around then I guess" He said as he gave me a quick peck on the cheek. I instantly blushed and felt a ton of butterflies in my stomach. And with that he walked away and went home. I opened the door to my house with a big smile on my face

"Hey sweetie" my mom said from the living room "how was your date with Sam". I wasn't looking at her but I could tell she had a tiny smirk on her face.

"Great actually." Is said back still with a smile on my face "I'm actually really tired mom so I'll tell you about it in the morning" I said as I walked up to my room. I changed into a tshirt and shorts, put my hair up and took off my makeup. I flopped onto my bed and went through twitter. As I was laying down I found Sams twitter. I followed him and he almost instantly followed back. I went to brush my teeth and came back and refreshed twitter one last time before going to sleep and noticed a tweet from Sam. It said :

@sammywilk: Just had an amazing night with an amazing person😊

I instantly favorited and also tweeted

@gracemiller: Definitely a great start to my summer. Can't wait to see what the rest will bring😏

And then went to sleep reliving my first date with Sam in my head.
