Lunar Chronicles Fan Fiction: between the end of cress and the revolution

Part 10: Winter

Sorry for not updating. Hope you enjoy this part as much as you've enjoyed the others. Like I said before, I don't know that much about Winter or Jacin then what I know from Cress (book #3 of the lunar chronicles series). 

Winter ignored the visions of blood dripping off the palace walls and went straight to her room with her train of thought full with a theory she has about who she thinks Linh Cinder is. She has an idea, but she had to make sure it was true. So she decided to ask Scarlet, the redhead earthling that lives in a cage  inside of Winter's room. She isn't sure this theory is right but she had to make sure of it.

        When she got to her room, she opened the door and stepped inside. She closed the door behind her, turn on the light, and faced Scarlet. Scarlet asked her, "Is there something I could help you with?"

           Winter said, "I'm pretty much gonna break Levana's and the guards' orders about this but for a little bit, I'm gonna let you out so you could sit on my bed with me. I just need you to promise not to run away ok."

        "Why would I run away if I only have one foot and where would I go if I were to run away?" Scarlet asked.

               Winter responded in agreement, "Good point." She walked to the cage and let Scarlet out. Then she walked and sat on her bed and Scarlet followed by crawlling. When she was close to the nightstand, she graped it and pull herself up to where she could stand. Then she hopped a few baby steps and sat on the left side of the bed because  it was the closes to her cage in case if someone comes and takes her to another interagation where it is likely that she was gonna loss anothe limb, or if someone decides to check on her and Winter to see if Scarlet hasn't given Winter any rabies or any type of earthling disease.

         When Scarlet got comfortable, she asked Winter, "So what is it that you what to talk about?"

        Winter replied, "It's about your friend Cinder."

        "What about her?" Scarlet asked.

        "Is she Princess Selene?" Winter asked out of curiousity.

        Scarlet responded in complete shock "I'm only aloud to tell you that if your pinky promised not to tell Levana or anyone who is close to Levana." She held out her non missing pinky  and asked "Do you swear not to tell Levana?"

        Winter said, "I've hated, but tolerated her my whole life. I know how to keep secrets from her." Then she latched one her pinkies to Scarlets and said, "I swear I won't tell her."                

        "Good than," she whispered " Yes. Cinder is Princess Selene. I've known that since my grandmother died, but I didin't meet her until about an hour after she died. I took an oath that says that I protect until she's back on the throne or until the day I die. One or the other. That's the reason why I haven't answered any of Levana's interagation questions about Cinder."

        Winter gasped, "Selene."

        Scarlet asked, " You known Cinder before Levana burned down her nursery?"

        "Yes, before I was a princess. I was considered as one of Channary's subjects, even though my dad was a guard. I was two when my mom died, and my dad and I were on our own. One day, Levana and my dad were really close. I was always babysitted by Levana's maids. I know Levana has been married before and that was one thing her and my dad shared. They were both widows."

        Scarlet interuppted, "What does this have to do with Cinder? Or Selene? Techincally both."

        Winter replied, " I'm getting there." Then she paused to take a deep breathe, "Anyway, she and my dad got married when I was three. Two weeks later, Levana finds out that Channary was pregant. Levana was glad on the outside, but furious on the inside. She didn't have the opportunity to do anything because it didn't feel right. She wanted to see if the child was a boy or girl, gifted or ungifted. Turns out the child was gifted and was a girl and her name was Selene. She was so adorable that Levana couldn't stand it, but I could. Channary let me play with her and help her out, because Levana didn't want to. Levana let me play with her and stuff. I learned that Channary was nice, generous, and was a good fitted queen.

        "Now here's the part you want to know. Whst had happened the night of the fire."

        Scarlet said, "Yeah, what about it?"

        Winter began,"I was five when that was happening. One night in the middle of winter, Channary was tucking her in to bed, but Levana walked in with a lighter and a knife in her hands. I was in the hallway before Selene's nursery. Next thing I know is that, I heard stabbing and screaming, and saw Levana leaving the room to a opposite direction than where I was. I walked in and saw Channary with a knife in her heart, blood coming out of her on the floor next to the crib, cold and pale, and as cold as ice in a flaming room. I closed her eyes and ran to the nears guard to tell him the problem. He listen and came to the nursery with five other guards. Since Queen Channary was died but Selene was still alive and ok. They took the baby to Dr. Tanner. Tanner, the five guards, and a earthing woman went to the nears available ship, which was the womans ship. They found out that the woman was a pilot for the European Federation -"

        Scarlet shouted, " That's my grand-mère !"

        Winter asked "Can I finish the story without interuptions?" Scarlet nodded, then Winter continued with the story. "so they borrowed her ship and went to earth, but before that they locked her in a tank full of animated gas too keep her alive until they known what they're gonna doing to her." Winter stopped because it looked like she was about to cry, but she took a breathe and continued, "That was the last time I saw her, but you told me that she is alive. So I can have hope." Then she started to cry.

        "Anyone who is a friend or ally to Cinder has a lot of hope, especially me. " Scarlet pointed out in a soothing voice to Winter. Trying to make her calm down from her crying. She noticed the netscreen in front of her bed and asked Winter, "Do you have net-dramas ?"

        Winter answered in a questionable way, "Yes, Why?"

        Scarlet acknowledged, "Well, when Emilie or myself is upstead about something. We go to each others houses and watch net-dramas until the sad one feels better. Do you want to try that?"

        Winter said, "Well, since your on the bed and it's late. Sure, that will be ok." She went to the light switch and turned off the light. Then she commanded to the netscreen, "Screen on". The netscreen turned on and Winter picked out her favorite net-drama and had sat back next to Scarlet on her bed. They were reacting to the show in various was to show emotions. Winter eventually stopped crying and she was glad that she had Scarlet here with her. She know that Scarlet missed her friends, but was also glad to be with her until her rescuers come and get her.

        They just enjoyed the night together, and Winter let Scarlet shared her bed with her. In the morning, Scarlet went back to her cage while Winter got ready just in case if someone sees the two of them and they started beating Scarlet to a bloody pulp. They both, however, knew that they were going to be really close.
