I woke up a few hours later feeling awful. The four of us probably got five hours of sleep max. I looked over at Caspian and Edmund, who were getting out of bed. I put a force field over me and the surrounding area to change. When I was decent, I popped it and started to ready myself. I quickly made a batch of lily tea and drank it up, knowing it was going to count as my breakfast and lunch for today since rations were low.
A crew member came bounding down the steps to tell Caspian that land was spotted. Grabbing my weapons and bag, I followed the three men upstairs to the deck. I left Caspian and Edmund to greet Lucy, Gael, and Eustace, whom I'd completely forgotten about. "Morning." I greeted, leaning on the ship's railing. Eustace scowled at me, watching the land we were sailing to. Lucy didn't say anything, offering me a weak smile. Judging by the bags under her eyes that I too sported, she was as exhausted as I was. Gael smiled cheerily at me, which led me to believe that she had not been a victim of night terrors or the temptation.
I turned to see the longboats being lowered and left to offer my assistance. In five minutes majority of us were in the boats, rowing to the unknown island. From his boat, Reepicheep shouted to us, "I doubt the lords stopped here, my liege. There's no sign of anything living!" While this was true, I believed it was worth a shot. "Right. Well, once we get ashore, take your men and search for food and water. The four of us will look for clues." Caspian replied.
"Hang on, don't you mean the five of us?" Eustace asked. The four of us shared a look. We all agreed that there was no way in hell that we were taking him with us again. He gave us an exasperated look. "Oh, come on. Please don't send me back to the rat." Reepicheep, who was several feet away, yelled, "I heard that." Eustace made a face, muttering, "Big ears." "I heard that, too." The Mouse informed. I snorted quietly, sharing an amused look with Edmund.

The four of us set off, hiking for only a bit before we came across the first clue. A rope was tied to a large rock, leading to a hole in the ground several feet deep. "Look, we're not the first ones on this island." I said, feeling the rope. It was rough and dry from the climate of the island, no doubt. But if I had to estimate the age of the rope, it was many years old, around a decade or more. "The lords?" Ed asked. Caspian picked up a rock and threw it down the hole. "Could be." Edmund grabbed hold of the rope, and exclaimed, "Let's find out!"
Just as he began to lower himself, I stopped him. "Hold on, Ed. I think I should go down first. Just for safety reasons. The three of you are much more important than me." While they gave me dirty looks, I lowered myself into the hole that was actually a large, spacious cavern. After only seeing the cavern wall and the pool of water in front of me, I called, "It's safe to come down!" Quickly, Edmund came down with Lucy and Caspian hot on his heels.
When everyone was down, we began searching for clues. Edmund bent down, inspecting something in the water. "What's that?" Caspian asked. The three of us stood behind Edmund, who replied, shrugging, "I don't know. It looks like some sort of gold statue." He stood up and walked to the wall, ripping a dried up vine off and walking back to the pond. He submerged the vine and tried to move the statue. Suddenly, what looked like real solid gold started to consume the vine. Edmund let go of the golden vine at the last second, dropping it into the water with a cry.
