'SLASH'
I felt my blade easily cut through the sail of the ship narrowly missing my opponents face. I make sure I keep my balance as I walk along the beam holding the ships main sail up, I quickly glance down at the deck to see my crew fighting off the rest of the intruders. I look up just in time to dodge another swing of my opponents sword who I'm guessing is the captain of this pathetic little group that call themselves pirates, what I can't understand is why they are attacking us. Pirates don't attack other pirates without a reason, so what's their reason?
My blades lock with theirs as we stand there trying to gain dominance over the other, all the while I am going through things in my head of why they would attack us. Nothing is adding up we haven't attacked or stolen from them, none of them have been apart of our crew and been kicked off so it just doesn't add up. I decided that trying to figure it out myself is useless, looks like I'm gonna have to ask some questions. In a quick motion I push back on the swords and back fip out of the way landing perfectly on the beam again, he stumbles back at the sudden motion but quickly regains his balance. Now its time for some answers.
"Who are you? Why are you attacking us?" I ask, making sure not to let my guard down.
"There is no need for you to know who we are, you only need to know that we are here to kill you." He says with a smirk as he points his sword at me. My eyes widen as I realize why they are here, they're bounty pirates they can get hired to hunt people or things down in exchange for money.
"But that's impossible! It's been almost 3 years why are people still hunting me?!?" I question shock clear in my voice. I take another quick glance down to the rest of my crew, the other bounty pirates are tied up on the ground all there attention is now turned to us. I hear a chuckle as I turn my attention back to the man.
"Hahaha the amount of time it's been means nothing, people hold grudges you know, especially after what you did," I feel anger start to bubble inside of me, "you will never change, you did so much to so many people and you can't change that, you'll always be a monster!" I snap and lunge towards the man, I kick his sword out of his hand and push him to the side so he starts to fall, I catch the back of his shirt just before he has the chance to fall to his death. It looks and sounds like I'm growling like a wolf just a habit I've picked up over the years it's also the reason my name is the way it is, I can feel my violet eyes burning with anger. I swiftly pull my dagger out of my belt and have it hovering over the pirates neck in seconds. As I'm ready to finish him I hear someone call out my name.
"WOLF STOP!!!" I look down with a glare to see Cardin my first-mate looking up at me with concern my gaze softens as I realize who it is.
"DON'T MAKE WHAT HE'S SAYING TRUE! YOU'RE BETTER THAN THIS NOW! YOU'VE PUT THAT STUFF BEHIND YOU!" After hearing that my head clears and I can finally think straight, I realize what I'm doing and I put my dagger back in my belt and lift the man back on to the beam, being sure not to let him go. I bring him back down to the deck and he's put with the rest of his pathetic crew I turn to walk away when Najira calls out.
"Captain what are we going to do with them?" I stand and ponder the question for a moment.
"Let them go..... But," I pull my sword out and hold it inches from the captains face. "if you even think about taking another one of your pathetic bounty jobs that involves coming after me or any of my crew the ending of that confrontation will not be as pretty." I signal for Najira to untie them, they hurry off the ship without even taking a glance back, I smile to my self I think that did the trick.
My mood changes as I realize what I almost did during that battle.
"Well that sure scared them didn't it captain haha." Max says with a chuckle I smile back at her then turn to walk towards the captains quarters. I here footsteps behind me and soon enough Cardin is next to me. We walk in silence for a few more steps before I decide to speak.
"Thanks.... for stopping me out there today. I don't know what got into me." I say looking straight in front on me and nowhere else.
"Nah don't sweat it I promised you that I would never let you go back to the way you where, I was just keeping my promise." He says casually as he shoves his hands in his pockets. He looks over at me with a soft, concerned gaze, we stop just in front of the door to my quarters. Cardin and I turn the face each other.
"Just don't go and beat yourself up about it ok? Yes you got out of control but that was because of what he said, he knew how to get to you. All you have to do is make your self stronger so nothing can get to you like that." I smile slightly before he pulls me in for a hug. He really dose give the best hugs. I pull away and walk into my quarters, I wasn't always this mighty, respected captain you know. We all have a past we don't like to talk about, mines just a bit worse than most.
