Turn 11 - Wrath of the red-eyes

Yushida and Max were about to begin their duel. Max rude comment about Alicia angered yushida and yushida's anger towards max wound max up. However, there was one thing both could agree upon, as they were both in the tournament and were facing each other down only one would go onto the next round. Alicia stood behind yushida uncertain and still upset by max comment about her and ron stood behind max, annoyed by max rudeness and seemingly interested in yushida. The morning sun shined brightly over the grounds as the two young men stared each other down. The time was 10:12am and now the first duels of the kumoto city regionals were about to begin. Both men continued to stare at each other, duel disks at the ready and both drew their opening hands before slowly opening their mouths and speaking in unison with each other. "Duel!"

Turn 1(Yushida)

"I'll take the first move! I draw!" Yushida drew his card, now holding 6 cards in his hand. "First I'll set a monster!" Yushida placed a monster in facedown defence position, then he played another card face down. "I'll set a facedown then I'll call it a turn."

Turn 2(Max)

max drew his card, he now had 6 cards in his hand. "First I'll play polymerization!" Max placed the card on his duel disk. "And with that I can fuse my flame manipulator and misaki the legendary swordsman!" Max held his 2 cards in the air and two silhouettes of a thinner man in a tunic and a man in what appeared to be samurai armour appeared behind him and started to swirl in a spiral around each other, upon merging together a vast sea of flames began to form, from these flames appeared a man in a light blue body suit, on his shoulders and head and waist were a fiery orange set of shoulder guards, a helmet and a small cape. His wrists had golden cuffs that almost reflected the sheer heat of the bright orange blade that he held in his hands. "I fusion summon my flame swordsman." Max yelled out as he placed the card upon his duel disk. (Flame Swordsman – LV5/ATK1800/DEF1600) "next I'm going to summon my darkfire soldier 1!" Max placed the card on his duel disk, when he did another torrent of flames burst into life before him, the figure that appeared from it had long blonde hair and black eyes and it showed off its bare muscular torso. Its lower body was literally just a pair of flames in the shape of legs and in its right hand it held a curved sword similar to a cutlass. (Darkfire soldier 1 – LV4/ATK1700/DEF1150)

Alicia watched the duel nervously. "Yushida...be careful...both of those monsters are pretty strong..."

Ron watched max's move closely, he was impressed by his friends opening move being able to summon not only 1 but 2 monsters immediately.

Max smirked and then lifted his hand and pointed towards yushida's face down monster. "flame swordsman attack! Flaming sword of battle!" max flame swordsman dashed towards yushida's facedown monster, it's mighty sword coated in bright orange flames as it was swung, the flames bathing the card which turned face up. From the card appeared a small hunched over man in a set of red robes, it held a small green sceptre in its right hand and it held up its left hand. (Old Vindictive Magician LV2/ATK450/DEF600) the flames burned yushida's monster as it hit it.

"I activate old vindictive magicians effect! When it's flipped face up I can target and destroy 1 of your monsters! And I choose darkfire soldier 1!" Yushida's magician held up its rod as it was incinerated and from it came a beam of energy which shot through max soldier and caused it to explode.

"damn you...I set 1 card and I end my turn!" max set a card facedown.
