Chapter Eight

Melody P.O.V

I was in my new class. It was music. Every student had to choose a new class for high school credits so I chose music. And guess who else chose music. Ross, Jocelyn, and Kali. The only reason why I chose music was because it reminded me of my mom since she was so into music. Music was the only thing that actually spoke to me. Every time I sing its like my mom sings with me. 

“Hello class. My name is Mrs.Benson and I am your music teacher. I have already decided what your assignment is going to be.” She said. She handed us papers and went back to the blackboard. “For the assignment you will be singing a song that is worth 30% of your grade. There will be only duets and solos. Do you understand?” 

“Yes Mrs.Benson.” The class said. “Okay. Now pick your partners if your doing a duet.” The whole class seemed to be doing a duet. 

“Ross, baby be my partner.” Jocelyn said. “Of course anything for you.” Ross said. “But Jocelyn, I thought we were partners.” Kali said. “Kali just do a solo. You’ll be fine.” Jocelyn said. Kali nodded and went back to her seat.

I decided to use the song that I wrote last night. I looked around for the guitar and finally found it. I asked Mrs.Benson if I could practice somewhere else and she allowed me too. I walked out of the music room and went into the orchestra room. 

I sat down in there and started strumming the guitar.  It didn’t sound right so I looked around the room and found a piano in the far back. I put the guitar down and walked towards the piano. I sat down and put my song book on the music stand so I could sing the words. I started to play.

Ross P.O.V

Jocelyn was making me do all the work while she was texting on her phone. Who could she be texting? All of her friends were in school. I leaned over to see her phone but she pulled it away. 

“Just texting my mom.” She lied. I could always tell when she lied. I nodded and began to work. I started to get thirsty. 

“Babe, I’m gonna go the the water fountain.” I said. “Okay hurry back.” She pecked me on the lips and I went to to the water fountain. As I was drinking water I heard singing coming from the orchestra room. I followed the music. I put my ear against the door.

The song ended. I opened the door and I didn’t see anyone. I looked in the back of the room and saw the back door was open to the orchestra room. I went to the piano and sat down.  l looked around the room and something caught my eye. It was a book. I picked it up and the cover read “Melody’s Song Book” 

I looked into the book and there was a song called “Behind These Hazel Eyes” Under it said “Dedicated to the one who broke my heart: Ross Lynch.”
