Screams filled the air as the sounds of swords clashed together. I could barely see red outside my window as my room got unbearably hot. "Aza?" I cried but she didn't answer. I have to help her. I thought as I attempted to get out of the crib. Suddenly a woman came into the room.
"There, there." She said as she picked me up, a panicked look on her face. "Don't worry, I'll keep you safe." She said softly as she bundled me up. I figured she would take me to my sister or mommy so I wasn't worried.
"There you are! What about the other one?" A man said as he came running up to us. He kind of looked like Francis, must be his brother.
"She wasn't there Hank." The woman said. "We have to hope that this one is enough."
"Claire, finding the Azralian Amulet is top priority, what if we have the wrong one?"
"Then we will use her to find the right one, but she was the only one in the room. We have to leave, NOW!" She said as they hurried down the hall. The last thing I remember seeing before falling asleep was a white cat on a purple shield.
"Azralian Amulet?" I questioned as I slowly opened my eyes. Pain flaring up behind my eyes as the light hit me. The room was actually really dim but I couldn't bare to keep my eyes open for very long.
"That's my amulet." I heard a voice say. Her voice had a fire in it that I couldn't quite explain. I slowly opened my eyes and looked around for her.
"Azra?" I questioned, still not able to find her.
"I'm right here love." She said from my left. I turned and looked at her. Her eyes glowing a soft red in the dim light.
"The Azralian Amulet, it's what they're after. I remember the day they took me, he mentioned it when they were smuggling me out of the palace." I said softly.
"The gem to destroy any species of organism..." She sighed, "you need a blood sacrifice of the organism, one that is strong but not powerful. It's so difficult to find someone who is strong enough to survive the trials but come out broken. I'm assuming that they were going to use it to destroy all werewolves. We wouldn't die, but our wolves would. And we would all be scared so severely that any hunter could easily find us and kill us."
"How do we prevent that from happening?"
"Don't let them get the amulet for one. We also have to make sure that they're not harboring a wolf."
"I released a wolf from our basement. Could she have been the one they were gonna use?"
"Maybe, or they could've used you. You're an incredibly strong wolf and they managed to subdue it for years. You would have fit the requirements because you haven't been trained to be powerful."
I groaned as pain shot through my skull.
"Hold on," Azra said as she pressed a button on the IV. It took a few seconds, but the relief from the morphine was euphoric.
"They kept the fact I was a wolf hidden from me though. Wouldn't I need to know?"
"Aria," she softly said, grasping my hand firmly, "they would have done anything to wipe out the werewolf population. They probably would have taken you off your medication so that Cassie could start to come forward, then during the ritual, inform you of what you were and kill you."
"But they raised me!"
"Aria, I saw the scars, that's not raising!" Heat filled the room as Azra stood, sending the chair sliding across the floor.
