"Suppose I should tell Melody now?" I asked as we sat around the dinner table. I with my "special diet" and they with their eggs and ham. "Yes I think you should," Dad said not even looking up from his newspaper," if she is a true friend she won't abandon you."

I'm not to worried though. Melody is the same age as I, but she has a special condition. Do you know what a siren is? If not I'll explain, it is a mythical womelike creature that lures men into the sea with it's hypnotizing voice. That is what Melody is. My parents don't know this though.

But instead of using her powers for evil she uses them to save people. Quite the opposite of what they're made for. Mom's voice jolts me out of my thoughts. "I agree," she nods enthusiastically. I swallow my drink ,which fills me up. "Okay, I'm gone," I said hopping up from the dinner table and leave our '80s style kitchen. "Have fun dear! Hope it goes well," Dad shouts.

I take off down the sidewalk carefully avoiding the cracks. A black ford drives up behind me and seems to be following me. Every few feet I walk it catches up with me. I can't see who's inside because the windows are so tinted. As an extra precaution I turn down a road that I hadn't intended to go on.

I want to see if they actually are following me. The ford turns as well.

I turn around and run at break neck speed to Melody's house. I have super speed so they probably can't tell where I went. I frantically pound on the door when I notice the truck coming down Melody's street. How'd it know where I was going. Maybe it's just a stalker but that doesn't make me feel any better.

Justin opened the door and gave me a dazzling smile. "Hey Quinn, long time no see-" I pushed past him and closed the door. It was an emergency after all. Justin looked confused but continued to smile. Melody's little sister, Hope noticed me and squealed in delight. "Quinn!!! You're back!" She grabbed my leg and didn't let go.

"I missed you too," I patted her head and gently shook her off. "Is Melody around ?" "Oh yeah she's been waiting for you for days," she exclaimed. I gulped. Hopefully Melody won't be mad. I trudged up the stairs, down the hall, and to Melody's decorated door. I knocked quietly on the stickered door and instantly it was opened. "Quinn Lee Davis, get in here right now!" She said and pulled me in.
