Taylor's POV

Hey, T! It's been a while since we've all hung out and Kat and I were wondering if you'd want to go out for dinner with us Friday night. Hayles and Chad will be there, so you better be, too!

-Jerm

I sighed, rereading the message Jeremy sent me. I don't think it would be a good idea for me to show up, considering all that's happened in the last few months. It's been almost week since I last spoke to Hayley and I'm not ready to face her just yet. Plus, Chad would be there, and even though he wasn't aware of what's been going on between Hayley and I, I'm not ready to face him just yet either.

Sorry, Jerm, I don't think I can I make it. Family emergency. Maybe next time.

I quickly typed the message and hit send, knowing that not going would be for the best.

Within a few seconds I got a reply,

Aw shucks :/ I hope everything's alright. I'll let Kathryn know you won't be able to come.

I locked my phone, deciding not to text back and placed it on the coffee table. I turned my attention to the TV and continued to watch the How I Met Your Mother marathon that started a few hours ago. I had nothing better to do but sit on the couch and watch TV all day. I know it sounds pathetic, but it's true. It was the middle Summer and instead of going to the beach or doing something fun, I was stuck inside my house watching reruns of TV shows. Pathetic.

I got up and dragged myself into the kitchen, hoping to find something good to eat, and after looking through the cabinets and staring into an empty fridge for almost five minutes, I realized that it'd be best to go out and get something to eat.

I threw on a random shirt and a pair of jeans then made my way out the front door, grabbing my wallet and car keys on the way out. I decided that I was in the mood for Chinese food and drove to a small Chinese restaurant that wasn't too far from where I lived. On my way inside, I bumped into someone causing them to drop their purse.

"I'm so sorry," I told the person as I bent down to pick up their bag. "I guess I should really watch where-"

"Taylor?"

I stood up at the sound of my name then froze when my eyes met with the ones of a familiar brown-haired girl. "Baylie?" I choked out.

She nodded and let out a breathy chuckle. "Taylor...wow." I could tell she was just as surprised as I was. She was the last person I expected to see. "I haven't spoken to you since-"

"Since we broke up."

"Yeah..." She sighed, disappointment filling her voice. "I've missed you, Taylor. A lot.

"I've missed you, too," I told her, and I did. One of my biggest regrets was letting her go so easily. I just let our relationship slip through my fingers and I didn't even fight to earn her trust back. "Well, uhm...here's your purse."

I handed her the bag and she smiled shyly, thanking me afterwards before speaking again. "We should catch up sometime. You could come over my place, or I could go to yours and we could just hang out."

I smiled and nodded. "I'd like that."

Hayley's POV

"Babe!" I yelled as I ran into our room. I plopped down on our bed then laid my head in Chad's lap. "Kat and Jeremy wanna know if we're available Friday night."

"Are they asking us on a date?" He joked, running his fingers through my short blue hair.

I playfully rolled my eyes and decided to play along. "If so, I don't blame them," I said, playing with the buttons on his shirt. "You're pretty hot."

He smiled and leaned down to kiss me. I sat up, crawling into his lap and deepening the kiss as he continued to play with my hair. Kind of like the way Taylor would. He slid his other hand around my waist, his cold fingers running up and down my sides, sending shivers down my spine. But it didn't compare to the tingling sensation I got when Taylor's warm hands-

I pulled away abruptly, hoping that once I did, the thoughts of Taylor would stop.

Chad gave me a confused look. "Is everything alright?"

I nodded, pulling away from his grip and sitting up. "Yeah, I just...have to pee."

Nice one, Hayles.

I mentally face-palmed myself for not coming up with a better excuse. He seemed to buy it, though, chuckling at my stupid response.

I gave him a small smile before standing up and making my way into our bathroom. I locked the door and turned around, looking at myself in the mirror. Within matter of seconds, a wave of guilt rushed over me.

"God, I'm so stupid."

Hiii. It's almost two in the morning and I can't stop listening to bravado by Lorde and I'll probably never stop but whatever.
