Chapter Eleven

*Next Day During Lunch* 

Melody P.O.V

I was sitting at table playing with my food. I wasn’t in a mood to eat. I was to heart broken. 

“You know eating cures a broken heart.” Jordan said. I glared at him. “Or you could just not eat.” He said a little sacred. “I’m sorry. It’s just Ross is being so odd. I mean one minute he likes me then the next minute he says something so hurtful.” I said. 

“I’ve been noticing that too. He’s been acting strange lately.” Riker said. “Hey! Has anyone noticed that Rydel is not here.” Ratliff said. “That’s strange. I saw her last period.” Jordan said. “Maybe she’s in the library.” Joelle suggested. 

I looked around the cafeteria and noticed something unusual. “Or she could be sitting next to Jocelyn.” I said as I pointed to Jocelyn’s table. “Ew why is she sitting with them?” Jenna asked. “And where is Ross?” Katie asked. “And more importantly why is Rydel dressed like that. She’s not wearing her hello kitty shirt and tutu.” Jordan said. 

We all looked at him strange. “What? She usually wears them.” He replied. “Okay. I’m gonna go ask Rydel.” Riker said. 

Riker P.O.V

I walked over to Rydel. Jordan was right she is wearing weird clothes. She wore really short shorts and a tight shirt with black high heels. She looked terrible. 

“Uh Rydel.” I said. “What?” She said with attitude. “Okay first off, Lose the ‘tude. And second why are you sitting with that thing.” I said as I pointed to Jocelyn. 

“You know Riker. I don’t think that’s a nice way to be talking to my new BFF.” She replied. BFF? What the hell?

“Rydel, stop kidding around and come sit with us.” I grabbed her arm but she yanked it away from me. “I don’t sit with you losers anymore. I’m sitting with my new friends.” She replied. “Rydel this isn’t you. What happened?”

“You want to know what happened. The thing that happened is that I’m sick and tired of hanging around with you nerds.  Especially you. Your the bossiest. You think that just because your older you can do anything you want. And you know what? I’m done with this!” She shouted. 

“Done? What do you mean done?” I asked. “I mean that I’m done with you guys and R5. I don’t want to be part of it anymore. I have a new band to be with.” She scolded. 

I was shocked by this. Rydel has never yelled at anyone before. I nodded and walked away from her table. I sat down at my own table and everyone was looking at me. 

“So she’s done with us?” Joelle asked. “Not just us. But R5. She quit.” I said. “What? How can you quit a family band?!?” Ratliff shouted. “I don’t know. But what I do know is that Rydel is hiding something and I’m gonna get to the bottom of it.” I said. 

Jordan P.O.V

I looked over to Rydel who looked like she was having a great time. This couldn’t be true. What happened to the giggly, crazy, fun girl? As I was eating I saw Rydel get up. She was headed for the vending machine. I got up and followed her. 

“Rydel.” I said. She looked up at me and rolled her eyes. “What do you want?” She said. “To talk.” I replied. “I don’t have time for talking with a worthless guy like you.” She answered. 

“Rydel this isn’t you. And I know that Jocelyn is making you act this way but I just want to know why?” She looked me in the eyes. “It’s better if you don’t know.” She replied. “But Rydel-“ 

“Move out of my way loser!” She yelled. She pushed me and I fell onto the floor. Wow she’s strong. As she walked away she turned around and mouthed the words “I’m Sorry.” 

*Science Class* 

Ross P.O.V

This time in science class we were learning how to create strawberry DNA. Melody and I went to the lab table and instead of her doing the work I did. We finished 15 minutes earlier this time and we had free time. 

“Melody, I’m sorry.” I said. She looked at me and rolled her eyes. “I mean it this time okay. I’m sorry.” I said. “Sure you are. After you apologize your going to act like an ass again and then tell me I’m worthless. Right?” She said. 

“Melody, please just let me talk to you. I need to explain things to you.” I said. She looked into my eyes. “Okay but not now. Come to my house after school and we’ll talk then. But this is your last chance.” My smile went from ear to ear. I hugged her and kissed her cheek. “Thank you!” I said. 

The bell rang and I walked her to her next class. 

*After School* 

Jocelyn P.O.V

I was with Rydel and Kali. I couldn’t wait for us to win. And by us I mean Rydel and I. 

“Wow Rydel the way you stood up to your brother at lunch was amazing!” I said. “Thanks. I just needed to get things off my chest.” She said. “So what you said wasn’t part of the act?” I asked. “Nope. It was 100% me.” She said. I smiled. 

“Good. Now what did you say to Jordan?” I asked. “Uh, Nothing. He was just asking me questions but I pretended as if I didn’t care.” She said. “So you do care about him?” I asked. “Yeah but not as much as I used too.” She replied. 

“You know what Rydel I think your mean girl material. And you know what? I’m not going to blackmail you or hurt anyone.” I said. “So I can go back to my old friends?” She asked happily. 

‘Sweetie no you can’t. But what you can do is sing a duet with me for the Moonlight Jam.” I said. “But I thought I was your partner.” Kali said. “Well, to be honest Kali you sing like a tone deaf walrus and I’m also kicking you out of the table.” I said. 

“What?” “You heard me. I’m kicking you out. And Rydel is my new BFF. Right Rydel?” I asked. “Uh, Yeah I guess.” She replied. Kali left with tears in her eyes. What a baby.

“Rydel, now that your my best friend I need you to do something.”  I said. “What is it?” “If you do end up telling everyone our secret I will hurt you but I won’t hurt your friends.” I said. She nodded in agreement. 

“Okay! So here’s the song I want us to sing.” I opened Melody’s Song Book (or should I say my song book) and turned to “Hazel Eyes”. I handed Rydel the book. 

“Okay, I’ll see you tomorrow.” I said. 

Rydel P.O.V

I looked at the song called “Hazel Eyes” and read the lyrics. “This doesn’t make sense. Jocelyn has brown eyes not hazel eyes. I closed the book and I read the front. 

It said: “ Melody Jocelyn’s Song Book” 

Maybe I should give this too Melody! I ran as fast as I could to Melody’s house.
