"I cannot kill him," Bucky said as the officials watched him. "I knew him. He was a lot younger when I saw him and I don't care why you want him dead, but I just cannot do it."
The man watched him with cold bored eyes and then he nodded at the officials as they pulled the Winter Soldier out of his chair and laid him down.
"It doesn't matter," Bucky said defiantly at him. "I cannot do it."
"Increase it by 10 volts," the man said lifelessly and smirked at Bucky.
"NO!!!!" Bucky screamed as he tried to get away but the officials held him down and put on his metal cuffs so he couldn't move anymore.
"I don't remember anything," Bucky cried. "Please don't, it really hurts, please!"
Bucky remembered the searing pain coursing through his body and the thought of that increasing in magnitude made him cry.
"Please no!!!!!" Bucky begged but the metal holders were already at his head and he felt the electricity flowing through his body. He felt completely helpless and desolate, and he wished that there was someone out there who would risk everything just to get him out of this hellhole. He screamed against the mouthpiece but then he felt his hands becoming loose. He was not only in pain but he was angry. He grabbed the nearest body and lifted it up in the air.
A kick to the crotch made him double over and when he looked around, the Hydra room had disappeared and had been replaced by a dark room with only a night lamp providing light. He blinked a couple of times as reality came back to him. He looked in front and saw a body sprawled on the floor. When he looked closer, he saw that it was Bella.
"Oh no," Bucky gasped as he sank to the floor beside her. He tried to rouse her but she was out cold. He switched on the light to notice bluish bruises forming around her neck and he immediately realised what he must have done.
He was angry now because he specifically remembered asking Bella not to touch him.
He got up off the floor and headed to the kitchen to bring a glass of cold water. He splashed the water on her face and sighed in relief when she opened her eyes.
"How many times," Bucky yelled at her and Bella flinched at his voice, "have I told you NOT to touch me?"
Did Bella just flinch? Good, Bucky thought to himself. She should be scared of him.
"Bucky," Bella said, her voice slightly hoarse. "I am sorry I tried to stop the nightmare from hurting you more."
"You should be. You should respect people's boundaries. When I tell you no touching, I mean no touching."
"Boundaries? Which boundary did I cross?"
"The boundary of touching people who are not comfortable with it. You deserve to be choked and thrown across the room and I wonder how nobody has done that to you earlier."
"That," Bella croaked, trying to make her voice louder, "was extremely rude. And yes, I know I deserve it and no need to wonder anymore, I have been choked and thrown across the room before."
"Seriously Bella, just don't touch me. Next time, I won't let go until you have become absolutely still. And cold."
Bucky used as much ice as he could in these words and felt oddly satisfied when he saw her wince. If this was the only language she understood, then it was important to get her the message in her language.
