Emmie

It was the day before Finn's departure. We planned to first make pack his things and then spend the rest of the day together.

"I've aldready got some experience with this long-trip-packing thanks to India, but I still need you. As my styliste. I want to look good in the Azores." He smiled and winked at me.

"Yes indeed you need me as your styliste. I'll pick the perfect clothes, so you won't be too gorgeous. I don't want you to come home with an Azorian girl or a female tourist." I copied him by winking exaggerated to him with a very wide mounth.

After the packing, we went on a picnic. It was perfect. We were in a quiet parc, half lying, half sitting on a typical picnic blanket with a typical picnic basket. With typical I mean a red and white checkered blanket and a brown wicker basket with two handles and two openings. To make it even more typical, Finn should have got out a bottle of champaign, but he didn't because he knows I don't like it that much. Instead of that, he got out a big bottle of Orangina and even though it wasn't champaign or anything, he brought two fancy flute glasses. The second thing he got out was macaroni with cheese and ham. Even though it was a hot summer day he brought warm food that is one of my favourites. So that's why he made me hurry that much!

"Homemade mac 'n cheese by my mom as you prefer it."

"Mmm, it almost looks as delicious as you do." And he really did look delicious. He was wearing his grey tank top with a little pocket where his heart is and a light brown shorts. We both were barefoot.

"Oh, you can't forget mosquito repellent", I reminded him.

"Already present in my valise."

We sat there eating, talking and laughing. For dessert, he brouhgt a big pot of ice cream. Haagen Dazs salted caramal. Our favourite. The usual movie ice cream for us to eat with two spoons.

"Oh, I believe there's still some ice on your lip", Finn said after we finished the ice cream. It was a lie, but still he kissed me to get rid of the "ice cream on my lip". Doing this we got in a lying position. Next to each other on our back. Our hips touched lightly.

"Promise me you'll give me an I'm-still-alivesign every day", I commanded Finn.

"No, I refuse to promise that." My facial expression was surprised, but then he continued. "I promise you I'll give you TWO I'm-still-alivesigns every day."

I smiled even more when he turned his head to me.

"FaceTime is great, but not perfect. It would be if you would be able to feel people through your phone. I'll miss holding your hands, touching your lips with my fingers, feeling your breath in my neck when you're lying next to my on your side. I'll miss you, Emmie."

"Here's my promise: if I bump into the inventor of FaceTime one day, whoever that may be, I'll command him to invent this edition. Because I'll miss having my hand held by you, my lips being touched by your fingers, breathing in your neck when you're lying next to me on your back. But in particular, I'll miss you."

We layed like that for a while and then we stood up.

"Now it's time to burn the ice cream. What do you want to do first? I brought a frisbee, a petanque set and badminton equipment", Finn suggested.

"Hmm," I was thinking,"let's just do it in the order as you said."

I started smiling again, for the thousandth time that day, when he got out the frisbee.

"Your favourite", Finn said.

The frisbee is the same one like they have in Nintendogs: lifebuoy-like with red and white.

Bam. Frisbee against my thigh.

"Oh, sorry sweetie!" Finn screamed from 10 feet from me.

"I wasn't ready yet, you mothertucker!" I started laughing.

I took the frisbee and threw it as hard as I could in Finn's direction. He got it against his right arm.

"Awch, you didn't need to do that!" Finn started laughing as well.

I ran up to him.

"Where is it? Oh, I already see it."

"How could you not, it's a red spot."

"Now you will have a souvenir of me for when you're in the Azores."

"Houzee!"

"Wait", I gave the red spot a kiss. "Better now?"

"Much better."
