Chapter 47

Kaia was loading the car with shopping bags when she heard her phone ringing. She saw that it was her sister.  "Hey, everything alright?"

"Weird," Katia said paying for their lunch.  "It was like I never met the women before. She was so off from the women I remember.  She went home with Harry though hopefully, that is a good sign right?"

"I hope so," she said. "Give me a few minutes and I'll be right there. Want to do some shopping?" She asked as she got into the car. "I'm in need of some retail therapy."

"I'm always down for shopping with my sister," she grinned into the phone.  "I will wait for you outside."

Kaia hung up and was actually only a few blocks away. She pulled up and saw Katia waiting out front.  "Hi. Looking for a good time?" She teased her.

Katia began to laugh trying to shake off Marian's weirdness.  "Always, I don't kiss on the mouth and I'm not into butt stuff," she joked.

"Well at least not on the first date," Kaia teased as she drove away from the curb. "Want to hit up the mall or some of the shops on the streets?"

"Whatever is fine," she said.

Katia noticed that Kaia seemed a little on edge.  "So do you wanna talk about my lunch or no? We don't have to if you don't want to."

"If you want to tell me," Kaia said. She was actually waiting on pins and needles. She drove a few blocks down and parked and they got out and started to walk.  "So how was she with you?" She asked. "Did she grill you?"

"She grilled me hard. Asked all the tough questions, but I was prepared and answered everything as honestly as I could." Katia explained "Until Liam came up in conversation. Then she told me she didn't want to hear about anything concerning idiot boy as she called him."

"She's always called him idiot boy," Kaia said. "She's never going to forgive me for my affair with him," she said with a grimace on her face. "And I'm sure no one else will either. It's a mistake I'll live with forever," she said. "What else did she ask you about? Did she ask you what the con was?"

Katia couldn't help but smile at her sister.  "It seems that you know Marian very well. That was the next thing she asked.  How, what and why of my con. I had to have an angle. When I didn't she settle on Liam being the angle," she sighed.  "As we ate lunch, she began to tell me things she felt her I should know. Ways to take care of you. Even a few secrets I can't tell you." 

Kaia stopped and looked at Katia. "Ways to take care of me and secrets?" She asked in an almost panic. "What does she mean by that?"

"Don't get mad, but she told me she was shocked and surprised you were married and had three kids by one man. Your dating history was erratic and you never let anyone see the men you dated. So the fact one stuck was shocking to her, she was surprised you didn't fuck it up."

Kaia turned and started to walk again. "I'm not mad. Really," she said. "Why...why would she tell you things about how to take care of me?" She couldn't help but wonder.

"I was telling her a story about us twining. That we are starting to act like twins, think like twins and do the same things. Just like Ahmir and Destiny." Katia said, "She said she was happy that you found your missing puzzle piece."

Kaia had to look away for a moment. "I am happy I've found my missing piece," she said. "But that doesn't mean I still don't need her," she said with a heavy sigh. "Maybe I'll call her later." She said and then gave her sister a small smile. "Want to get a tattoo?" She asked with a nervous laugh.
