|Twenty Five|
I had been avoiding her for hours. I was tired. My lungs burned, my hands shook, my feet stung.
I wasn't going to last much longer.
I lunged, my knees scraping the ground as the crazed girl slashed at me with the rusty knife. But she was fast. If isn't have time to even take a breath as she rusted at me with the knife raised, screaming at me.
I gasped and rolled as she struck the knife down where I had just been, before I pushed myself up to my feet and made a break for the other side of the arena.
But then I felt the knife slash deeply in to my back. The pain didn't register at first, and my eyes widened as realisation came over me.
Then the pain.
I collapsed to the ground and screamed. But my screams were cut off as she leapt on top of me, pinning me down to the floor, knocking the wind out of my lungs.
She struck the knife down with a gargled scream. It struck right through my ear. I felt it slowly drop to the ground in a bloody mess.
My heart was beating erratically. My limbs were shaking violently.
I screamed.
I tried to push her off, but she had dug her feet into the ground and wasn't budging. She lifted up the knife, making me scream more, before she thrusted it back down again.
As she swung back, I used her own momentum against her and I pushed myself up, flinging her off of me. The knife skittered across the ground as she screeched.
I gritted my teeth as pain flashed in my back and ear, tears streaming down my cheeks. I could barely hear out of my ear as it was clogged with blood.
The girl skittered to her feet, rushing for the knife, but instincts jumped in and I rushed at her, knocking her to the ground as we both fell, away from the knife.
She screeched and clawed at me with her jagged claws, eyes wide and psychotic as they were locked onto me. I gritted my teeth and cried out as her dirty fingers thrusted themselves into my mouth.
I bit down on them hard.
She screamed and tried to pull them back out, using her other hand to bash her fist against my skull repeatedly.
I bit down harder.
Until I severed off three of her fingers with my teeth. The blood filling my mouth as she pulled her hand away.
She screeched so loud my ears popped.
I spat out the fingers, pushing myself to my feet as I sprinted at the knife. I skid to my knees, scraping them even more, as I fumbled for the rusted weapon. She screeched before I grasped the weapon, and I turned and gasped as she was right on top of me.
I thrusted the knife up, into her throat. She gagged as blood splashed over me, blinding me and turning my world red.
My heart was racing. I was breathing heavily. My arms shaking.
She gargled on her own blood, before she collapsed onto of me, dead still as blood leaked out over me.
I fell back to the ground, and I cried out as my back stung. But the sudden silence in the arena struck me hard.
I...won...?
His voice played over the speakers. Momentarily forgotten.
"Ah. Nice going there. Now time spice things up a bit."
