Eight years later
I felt myself being shaken. "What? I'm sleeping." "Come on. It's time to wake up. I have to go to work soon and would like to spend some time with my gorgeous girlfriend beforehand." "Well, I want to sleep. So go away." I hear laughter. "I made breakfast." "What is it?" "Your favorite, french toast with cinnamon, warm syrup, crispy bacon, and coffee with french vanilla creamer in it along with two spoonfuls of sugar." "I love you. I'll be right down." I get out of my nice warm bed and see the the retreating form of my boyfriend of four years. I stretch, rub my face and slowly zombie walk to the master bathroom. After I do my morning routine, I go downstairs to join my amazing boyfriend at the table.
I stop in the doorway. I look at John and how the sun is causing his highlights to show in his dark brunette hair. I smile as I watch him read read the paper, making faces at it. "You know if you make those faces long enough then your face might get suck like that." I giggle. I slide into my seat. "Come on. Like I would let my face get suck. I mean, get real." John teases back. We are so mature. "So what are your plans for today, angel?" "I have to finish that chapter and send it to my editor, then I'm heading into town to pick up a few things, and I'm calling Ambria today. Not too much. You're probably going to be very busy today, Mr. Corporate Executive." "Haha, very funny. Don't forget that I have special evening planned for us tonight. Be ready at 6." "Ok, but what's the occasion? Our anniversary was last month and my birthday isn't until May. Your birthday was two weeks ago." "Can't I just do something nice for the most wonderful person I know?" "Mmmm..."
After we finished breakfast and I saw John off to work, I washed the dishes and set to finish the the last chapter of latest novel in my series, Lost in the Forest of Time. It is surprisingly popular with all ages even though it is written more towards middle schoolers. I finish and send it off. I look at the clock, 10:27. Uh, I guess that took less time than I thought. Pushing my laptop aside, I go upstairs to get dressed.
