Prologue

I saw two girls playing wooden knife and another girl not from a far playing a toy gun. They are alone at the barangay's play park. They doesn't have any yayas or parents around. Maybe, they just escaped?

"Yaaah!"

"Ouch! Don't make it real Ysa. It hurts"

And she began to sob. The girl she called Ysa stopped and look at her. Her tears started to fall and her conscience hits her.

"I'm sorry Vanessa, I didn't mean it"

And then she walk beside her and wiped her tears. Another girl run towards us. She kneel in front and look at Vanessa with worried eyes.

"Are you okay, ,Vanessa? Don't cry. Ysa didn't mean it."

"But it hurts"-- Vanessa

"I'm sorry. Venice, I promise, I didn't mean to hurt Vanessa. Van, Can I see it?"

Okay? So the girl who played a toy gun named Venice and the girl who was hurt named Vanessa.

She tap the part where the pain is. I can see the swollen part and Ysa near to cry. Maybe, this is the first time she hit her seriously base on her reaction. And I know it hurts.

"Shhh. Both of you, don't cry. Vanessa, she's teaching you how to play sword. And physical pain is part of it."

The girl named Venice said it.

"Ysa, hug Vanessa and say sorry okay?"

She nod and hugged her and asked for forgiveness. Then, the girl joined. I smiled in secret. They are sooo cute.

"I love you girls. I will forever love you"

It looks like Venice girl is the oldest and she looks like a leader. But... They are too young to learn those things! They should atleast enjoy their childhood! Thinking that, ahm, I think they are at the age of 6 or 7? I dunno.

They are still hugging each other tightly when I noticed a man walked beside them. I suddenly felt my heartbeat going faster. I don't know why. I feel like I am with them when in fact, I am just here, watching.

Ysa broke their moment and look at the person who owns the shadow. But.... I think she cannot see his face clearly because of the sunlight blocking her vision.

I can see the man's earing because it is reflecting at the sun's light. A golden sun earing with red letter engraved at its center. Weird.

"Ahm, who are you?"

Venice asked the man. I saw his grin and look at them intently. Ysa looked at Venice when she secretly hold their hands tightly. As if she's making a warning.

I want to say them that they should run, coz the man has a gun on his pocket! He will kidnap them.

But... My mouth can't open. I can't speak. As if my mouth is glued and I can't do anything. I want to help those kids. I really do!

Please run. RUN FOR YOUR LIFE!

"What are you looking at?"

Vanessa said firmly. I know, they can feel the bad intentions of this man. But... They are nervous. They hands are shaking.

"Well... Well... Well. Looks like you do not have your yayas and bodyguards"---the ugly man

"Obviously, we're alone. Common sense, ugly man"

And then Venice stood in front of them as if she's protecting the two girls. She's so brave even though her hand is shaking. She still stood and try everything she can to protect them.

"Stop bugging us, man. Make your own life."

And then, Vanessa did the same thing. I am shaking in fear. I want to help them but I can't open my mouth to tell something. Venice looked at Ysa and smiled. While Vanessa hold her hand tightly. These two, they are protecting the girl named Ysa. They are doing everything to make her safe. Is she his target? Obviously.

"I didn't know that you girls are brave. Unfortunately, I can hurt young girls"

And then I saw his hand from above trying to hurt them. Vanessa and Venice make themselves shields to protect Ysa.

Please! Stop it! They are too young!

*bang*

"Oh shit!"

I heard a sudden bang sound and the slap didn't came. I saw two persons carrying guns and running towards them as they shout.

"Ruuuun! Run! Run Van, Ven and Ysa!"

They did what they told them but unfortunately, Vanessa's hand was caught by the man. Ysa stopped running and saw her struggling. Without minding the fear, she run towards them and help her escape from this man.

"You! Stop hurting Vanessa!"

And then Venice did the same thing. They really love each other. They protect one another. Ignoring the fact that they are just kids. The fact that they are facing death and life right now.

"Vanessa! Venice! Ysa!"

Ysa bit the man's arm. Venice, kicked his balls. And Vanessa smacked his face. They did it several times until his hand let Vanessa's arm. They run as fast as they could towards the two persons. They keep on running and running until.....

*bang! *bang *bang

I opened my eyes and seated. I am catching my breath as I felt my sweat flows down. My hands are trembling and my head aches. My heart is beating so fast as if I am having a palpitation.

Then I realize, it is just a dream. No, a nightmare. But it felt so real. As if I am one of the witnesses.

*thunder

The rain pours down my window but the moon is still present. I checked the clock, and guess what? It's 2:18 in the morning. I lay down again and close my eyes. I should calm myself. Because tomorrow is another day.

What I mean is, my first day as a college student.
