Living With Vampires

Chapter 1

Hell. That’s how I would describe the past month if anyone was to ask. Why, they would ask and it would be a simple answer, God took away my parents in an instant when they should be here with me

And just to add to the hell I was now living in I was stuck with my sister and the good for nothing husband of hers. I was just 5 when she met her husband and just like that they were married and she was gone. I haven’t heard or seen from her since then, and now after 12 years I would not only see her again but I was forced to live with her. And though she was my sister I still couldn’t help but hold a grudge that she left me, she left us, and she would never get to see her parents again all because he came into her life.

I had no idea about her life now. I didn't know if she was rich or poor, if she had kids, or if she was truly happy. But as the car she sent me started passing huge 5 story mansions I guessed at least one thing, they were filthy rich. When we stopped and turned into a drive way to a castle looking mansion I saw her. She was still the same. Same long brown hair that fell down her back in soft curls, like mine only black, same height as me of 5’6, and a simple dress that fell to her knees

"Amanda!" she shrieked at me as she jumped to hug me.

She pulled away, still holding me, and looked me up and down causing me to look down at my skinny jeans, old high school t-shirt and converse.

"Amy. Long time no see." I said as I pulled her off of me.

"I am so sorry that I couldn’t make it to the funeral, and also because I know you were a lot closer to them then I was."

"Well maybe if you had stayed you would have been to."

"I know and I am sorry that I left you but I had to in order to stay with Mark."

"Letting men control your life. Such a shame."

"It is not like that Amanda."

“Yeah I’m sure it was nothing like that.

“Please, Amanda, we are the only family we have left, let me explain to you what happened.”

"Fine. I will go and put my stuff in my room then. But I can’t promise I will forgive you"

"That’s fine, I do understand and you don’t have to, our butler George will do that for you. Mark is home and I think we should get it over with."

"Fine."

"Just go on in to that second door it’s our Kitchen and we will meet you there."

I didn't say anything this time. I slammed my suitcase down and walked to the door she pointed to. I sat at the breakfast bar and waited. After about five minutes Amy walked through with Mark, her husband, following behind her. It looked like he had just gotten out of a business meeting since he was dressed in a tailored business suit that fit his 6 foot body perfectly.

"Hello Amanda."

"Hello Mark

"So are you ready for this."  He said as he stood behind Amy as she sat down across from me.

"Sure, I guess.”

“Okay, let’s start with this, do you believe in vampires?”

"No, they are only characters in books. But what the hell does that matter I want to know why it is that you two just left with no word or contact in 12 years.”

"Well actually it has a lot to do with that."

I looked at them and started laughing, “What are you guys going to tell me you’re vampires and that’s why you had to leave, really is that the best you guys can do”.

"This is not a joke Amanda, Amy and I are vampires, just as you figured out.”

I looked at them for a minute and decided to humor them "Ok let’s say I believe all this crap you’re telling me. Where is the proof?”

"What about the blood packets in a secret compartment in the back of the refrigerator or how about my teeth, would that be proof enough."

"Nope."

"I figured that wouldn’t be enough, especially with the damn people who like blood who pretend to be vampires.” I heard Amy laugh at this, “Well how about this?"

Just then I watched him pull a knife out of his jacket and cut himself down his arm and as fast as the mark was there it was gone.

I felt the color drain from my face as I looked at his arm, "Anything else." I said with a shaky voice

He laughed then the next thing I knew I was in the living room feeling dizzy. I looked around at the living room then back at him. As I was looking at him I felt a rush of air go past me and looked up to find Amy next to him. I backed away from them and looked back and forth between them with tears starting to form in my eyes. I backed even more until I felt the front door in my back. I needed to run and I need to do it now. I turned around and ripped the door open I didn't bother closing it I just bothered with making sure my clumsy feet didn't trip me as I ran down the stairs and towards the woods that were in front of their house. Somewhere in the woods I stopped. I backed into a tree and slowly slid down it like the tears on my face. I didn't know how all this could be happening and whether it really was I just wanted it all to be a dream, a dream where my parents were still alive and that Amy and Mark were human not vampires.

For my fans this is a do over of living with vampires I didn’t like the way it was written, as I was a young writer then. So let me know what you think of the do over.  For those who haven’t heard of the story well enjoy and let me know what you think. Thanks!!!!!
