Tony's POV
I spent the whole day high on the fact that I would see someone I held so close to my heart. I think everyone was pretty excited except for Anne, Valerie and Vic, who were half excited.
On stage, everything just seemed more alive that night. The fans seemed to sing a little louder and the lights seemed to shine a little brighter. A positive outlook goes a long way.
When we finished up our set, we wished the fans goodnight and ran past Kellin who stopped us.
"Yo, there's a girl and a guy in the back. They say they're waiting for you."
"Alright." Vic nodded and I was the first one back behind stage. I tossed my guitar over to a tech guy and when he caught it, I already had Monica in my arms.
"MONI!"
"TONY!" The embrace lasted for a minute and when I set her down, I saw Vic leaving the room.
"Where the hell were you for four years!? Why'd you leave me?" Suddenly, the hurt from the past bubbled back up and she sighed and gazed into my eyes.
"Tony, stop it. Don't bring that up. I'm here now, best friend. Please don't make me talk about it." I nodded in understanding and turned my attention toward Brent. He walked over to me and I had noticed everyone was now in the room, joyously talking with one another.
"Hey, Brent!"
"Tony!" We did a bro hug, because we were also friends, and exchanged a few words. Out the corner of my eye I saw Monica nervously talking to Vic and Valerie about something that seemed kind of important. I motioned over to them as if to ask what was happening.
"Oh, Monica's apologizing for what happened at the grocery store." I furrowed my eyebrows in confusion.
"The grocery store?"
"Yeah. We ran into Vic and Valerie at the grocery store the day before you guys left. The girls went at it with each other and ended the conversation on a bad note but Vic and I did a little catching up." I nodded and just ignored the fact that no one told me they actually saw them. It didn't matter anymore, they were here now. I saw the two girls hug and everyone in the back regrouped.
While Sleeping with Sirens was on stage, the ten of us caught up. After the show, we had to get on the bus and leave as soon as possible but the girls said they had a few things to do with a shirt design.
They told us what they've been up to for four years, all about their baby, and Brent rides BMX bikes locally to make money. I was suprised to hear that they still resided in San Diego because we never saw them around. While everyone sat and talked, I noticed Anne trying to be engaged, but she couldn't seem to grasp it. I placed my hand on hers but she rolled her eyes and left the room.
Monica's POV
Anne, Valerie, Jayne, and Belle were all out handling something so Brent and I were back on the bus with Pierce the Veil. All the guys were catching up, except for Tony. In the lounge, Tony and I were playing video games. I had my legs across his lap while we decapitated zombies together. It was one of the many things he taught me to do in high school.
"Hey do you still remember how to play guitar?" I smiled and shot a zombie.
"Nah, probably not. Do you?" I smirked and he rolled his eyes at my joke before pausing the game and walking out the room. When he came back in, he was holding an acoustic guitar and stuck out his arms for me to take it.
"This isn't mine but Vic always has one out on the bus. Try it." I took the guitar in my hands and he tossed me a pick that I didn't catch. Once I picked it up, I shuffled around in my spot and he sat next to me, anticipating what I would do.
My fingers fumbled over the frets and my hands strummed a little clumsily, but I was able to produce a lullaby like sound. When I was done, Tony had opened his mouth to say something but all I heard was the sound of the door slide open. Anne poked her head in through the doors but sighed and closed it once she saw us.
"What's that about?" Tony shrugged and looked away.
"Not sure. She's been acting this way lately. Hey, it was nice seeing you and all but I'm assuming the girls are back and we need to go. See you back in San Diego?" The bittersweet smile on his face told me he didn't want me to leave but we knew I had to. I wrapped my arms around his neck and stood on my toes as the tears welled up in my eyes. His arms wrapped around my back.
"See you back in San Diego."
