Hayden's P.O.V.

After about an hour of brainstorming, I have come up with absolutely nothing.

Where do you take a girl out on a romantic first date?

I'm not very good at romance, but I really like Hunter, so I have to come up with something.

I could do a hot air balloon ride. That's romantic, right?

What if she's afraid of heights? I could cause her to have, like, a panic attack.

Bad idea.

I bang my head down on the table in frustration.

Ow.

Just then, I hear a noise from another room.

"Hayden? Are you home?" My mom calls to me.

"Yeah, mom. I'm in the kitchen." I say, my head still face down on the table. I hear the click of heels and the jingling of keys approaching the kitchen.

"Hello, honey!" Mom says.

"Hey." I say, glumly.

"Why are you sitting like that? Hayden, is something wrong?"

"I'm fine. Just out of ideas." I reply, lifting my head up. My mom sits down next me.

"Ideas for what?" She asks, her brown curls cascading down her face.

"Ideas for where to take a girl on a date." I say. My mom smiles, her blue eyes shining.

"A date! With a girl? Oh, honey, I'M SO HAPPY FOR YOU!" She says, squeezing the life out of me.

"Mom. Please. Let. Go." I say, short of breath. She relaxes her arms. "So, you're a girl, right? What's, like, the most romantic and impressive thing you can do on a first date?"

"Yes, I'm pretty sure that I am a girl." She says, laughing. "Well, if this were my first date, I would love it if a guy would take me on a romantic picnic-"

"THAT'S IT! I just got the best idea, thank you so much, mom!" I say. I kiss her on the cheek, and run up the stairs to my room.
