Dangerous Illusions

Chapter 37

It was amazing! There were fairy lights hanged up in the trees, balloons floating, streamers spread out on tables, everything you can imagine...

I looked at the people in front of me and saw Abrianna, Chelsey, Maria, Hendrick, Jade, Jax, Jhonn, Millisa, Jack, Rob, Nathan, and a lot of my gang members and other people I knew. Including my aunt, Amanda.

Someone took my hand when I got to the bottom of the stairs and I saw Daniel. In a tux, it was an amazing sight, he smiled and pulled me in for a kiss,

"You look beautiful, Elna." He complimented,

"Thank you, Daniel, " I smiled,

We walked through crowds of people heading to the dance floor.

"Daniel, I can't dance," I said laughing as the music started to play,

"Now you see, I know that's a lie,"

"And how would you know?"

"I know because your brother told me and your sister filled me in on why you stopped. And also... when I did research on you a while back, we did some digging with underground stuff on shadow and we saw your records. You are quite the dance queen apparently." I glared at Nathan and my sister but then just started laughing and shaking my head,

"Okay, see if you can keep up... this is my song," I said grinning when Don't Let Me Down started to play,

Rob p.o.v

"Maria, Hendrick, this is Elna and I's real father and uncle. Dad, Rob this is the people that we see as family, they looked after us when we needed it." Lizzy introduced us, we put our hands out for them to shake. We met their daughters and started to talk about something random when we heard Don't Let Me Down start to play and we saw Daniel and Elna walk onto the dance floor. (Video above)

They danced as if they rehearsed it a thousand times and never got bored of it. It was so graceful and elegant. Everyone stopped what they were doing and watched. Halfway through, Nathan walked up to us and started to speak, "It's so good to see her dance again, when I heard she stopped dancing after everyone thought I was dead, it was devastating."

"Yeah, she refused to do anything related to dancing," Hendrick informed us,

"Well they look amazing together," Abrianna and Chelsey gushed,

After the song ended people were clapping and enjoying themselves. The music played until five to twelve when we moved over to the cake. Elna and Lizzy held the knife and started to cut it when we counted down to midnight. When the clock read twelve, Daniel spun Elna around and kissed her while slipping a package in her hand, he walked over to Liz and gave her a package as well tied with a ribbon. Both girls looked at each other and grinned before opening it,

"Daniel, it's beautiful, thank you!" Elna thanked him after opening the package.

"Open it, it's a locket," He explained, she opened the heart-shaped locket and in it was two photos. One of me, Jack, her, Liz, Nathan and Daniel pulling faces at the camera, the other one was one of Jack and Maddie with me behind them, we were smiling thinking all was right with the world at the time.

Elizabeth got the same and they looked at each other with tear stained eyes and then walked over to Daniel to give him a hug, "Happy birthday you two, the rest helped to pick it out as well. I wasn't sure what to get you guys," He explained rubbing his neck,

"Well, don't say it ya idiot!" Both Jack and I said together laughing,

The night continued after both of them put the lockets around their necks. They seemed to really appreciate it, it also looked like they enjoyed the party when we finally called it a night.

Elna p.o.v

I collapsed on the bed with my PJ's after we ended the party. My feet are killing me, dancing with heels the entire night really can kill you. I was about to drift off into sleep when the door opened and Daniel walked in with only sweatpants on. He saw me laying on the bed sprawled out and laughed.

"I should keep up? Darling, have you seen yourself?"

"I haven't danced in a while okay?" I said laughing with him,

"But I must say..." He started when he slowly walked towards me and sitting down next to me on the bed, "You, sure can dance,"

He leaned forward and pecked my lips before pulling away and getting something out of his pocket. "I want to give you the rest of your birthday gift," He said when he opened a little box almost similar to the previous one. He pulled out a ring that looked like it had a knot tied into it, "This is a knot ring...a promise ring. It symbolizes love, friendship, and affection towards one another..." He said as he put it on my left hand's ring finger, "I am giving you this to tell you I love you, Elna. It's to tell you that after all of this war business and gang crap, that I will propose to you. I want to share the rest of my life with you, I know that it is sudden and everything but I can't spend another day thinking that we might someday be separated. I'm not asking you to marry me now, and this isn't a proposal, this is a promise that I will propose to you with a ring and a beautiful scenery in the background. I love you, Elna White, I always have and I always will. Never forget that," He said as he kissed my knuckles,

I looked into his eyes looking for something, anything, but all I found was love, passion, and desire tied together with this promise, the promise that we will one day be one and share a wedding with loved ones surrounding us.

"Yes," I said tears filling my eyes, "This may not be a proposal but you have my answer for when the day comes, I love you too Daniel and I wouldn't miss being your bride in white for the world," I said reaching up and smashing his lips to mine,

That night I fell into darkness with one thought on my mind as I played with the ring, this was the best birthday yet...
