I always thought to myself, I am one hell of a lucky princess. I know for a fact that I wouldn't have been able to survive all this without him by my side. All the other princesses I have met seem to enjoy the occupation and their one goal is to find that one prince Charming.

I on the other hand only dreamed about swords, daggers and training. Mostly because it was the only time where my powers weren't exactly forbidden and I got to spend some free time with Charles.

The second part was true for the longest time... until I had to deal with my mixed emotions towards him. For the past few days I have been waking up early to train alone and I remained in my room for the most of the day.

But as I should have known by now, the universe works against me.

"Princess Imani?" I hear a soft voice call out from outside my room followed by a knock which made me sit up and close the book I was trying to read.

"Come in."

Noma's face brightened when she saw me only to be replaced by a frown. "Are you alright, my Princess?"

"Yes, why wouldn't I be?" I casually shrug but her look tells me I didn't fool her. She gives me a brief look probably waiting for me to say something but all I gave her was silence. She finally coughed nervously, "Her Highness sent me to inform you that dinner will be ready soon. She also asked that you wear one of the dresses she had designed for you."

"May I ask what is the occasion?"

"I am afraid I don't know, my Princess."

A special dinner called for a serious occasion, especially if she wanted the entire family to be present. Charles included.

"I will be on my way now but if there is anything-"

"Yes, Noma. There is one thing I would like you to help me with."

She nods watching me make my way to the door right next to my bathroom. I open it revealing the thousands of dresses I owned as well as jewellery, shoes, etc.

"Do you mind helping me, please?"

Mother's smile was enough to tell me Noma made the right choice by picking the purple dress. My heels hit the red carpet of the dining room with the most annoying sound almost making me want to throw them away.

Charles face brightened as he saw me and I give him a smile. It feels so weird finally seeing him since I've been ignoring him for days now.

I bow low in front of the three of them waiting for the permission to join them.

"Have a seat, binti." my mother points the seat right across from Charles. Father sat at the head of the table as usual while she sat at his right side.

The food was served shortly after and we ate in silence. I could feel my mother's eyes on me as I tried to swallow down the ugali , Charles's favourite food.

"How are your studies going, Imani?" father's voice echoed in the huge dining room making shivers run down my spine. I nervously wipe the corners of my mouth with a napkin.

"Good, father. Mr. Haji has been doing a great job helping me understand History a bit more."

He nods pleased and focused back on his meal. I wasn't expecting a conversation anyway.

"How about training?" mother asked with a smile making me look at her returning the gesture. "Good, mother. Thank you for asking."

"I haven't seen you two train for some time now."
