I don't know how to explain it, but I can tell that this world is spiraling. It started a while ago, but we were too blind to notice that something was wrong. I'm not blaming technology, I'm not blaming any specific event. I'm not blaming politics, I'm not blaming demons, I'm not blaming religion. I'm not blaming anything at all.
Parkland, Florida, lost seventeen lives in that shooting. While people reported the 19-year-old, they ignored the signs. Because of this, 17 are dead and 24 are wounded. This is the type of event that nobody will forget. I was listening to a radio show a few days ago, and on it there was this young man-- a survivor of the massacre-- who spoke in front of a crowd about how we need to fix the problems that led up to the cause of the shooting. Do you know the name of the highschool? Majory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida.
Besides losing lives and wounding others and leaving imprints and stains that will never be erased, politicians and peoples of influence are focusing on the gun. They are focusing on the gun, and not the shooter. They aren't blaming themselves, they're blaming the instrument.
When I imagine the Florida Shooting, I imagine screams coming from the highschool in a ripple effect-- butterfly effect-- coming from Florida and slowly reaching the rest of the world. These ripples caused uproars and caused lost lives and they caused PTSD in people who never had it before. It caused people to completely give up, and it will continue causing lost lives- maybe not in Florida, but if our own ignorance and selfishness is not addressed, we will continue spiraling.
Don't you dare tell me that I'm too young to know anything. Don't you dare push me down off the pedestal that is rightfully mine to stand on. Don't you fucking dare start another ripple. We are powerful, young and old, but we are pushed off our standings and are left to rot. Stop it.
