1 WEEK LATER

Harry's POV

It's been a week since Lola's come out of hospital and she's been doing so much better. she's now able to walk up and down the stairs unaided and can pretty much do most types of excercises. she had her stitches taken out yesterday but refused to let me come because 'she needs to be more independent' apparently. but I told her that was nonsense and came along with her anyway. the guilt of cheating on her is steal eating away at me, and she hasn't yet told me she loves me, but every night I recite those words to her; whether she replies or not.

My phone vibrated beside me and I leant over to see who it was.

Dad;

It's sorted.

A feeling of extreme relief runs through my veins and I can't help but smile at the good news. I don't know what he means by 'sorted' but I trust him and I know that when he says he's done something, he means it. Tomorrow it will be exactly two weeks since Ed told me to get rid of Jake, and thankfully, now I have - well my dad has, but still.

I look over to the clock beside me as I lie in bed next to a sound asleep Lola. 2:38. I sigh, for some reason I can't sleep. I decide to go get a glass of water from downstairs, but as I begin to descend the staircase, I hear quiet sobs coming from Lola's grandads room. my curiosity gets the better of me as I quietly knock on the door.

"Come in" he speaks through the closer door and I do as he says and enter the room to see him fully clothed, sat at the end of his bed with his head in his hands.

"Sir?" I ask quietly, walking further into the dark room and shutting the door behind me.

"Harry? what are you doing here?" he asks, looking over to me with a shocked expression. I can barely make out anything in his room, the only reason I can see him is because his curtains are open, meaning the natural light from the moon is seeping through his windows.

"I heard a noise, are you okay?" I decide to keep my distance, as I've only known him for a few weeks and I don't want to intrude by sitting on his bed or anything like that.

"No, to be truthfully honest, I'm not okay" he looks down at his fingers.

"What's wrong?"

"Please take a seat, son" he pats the sheets beside him and I do as he says and I take a seat beside him. "as you probably realise, I'm not very well. and recently I've been noticing the fact I am forgetting things" he pauses for a whole and takes a breath before continuing. "theres a photograph of a girl in Lola's room, they look very similar, but I just can't seem to put my finger on who it may be" he begins to cry again and chokes on his sobs. it's one thing seeing somebody you care about cry, but especially when it's an old person - it just makes things 10x worse.

"That's Freya, your granddaughter" I remember seeing the photo a few weeks back when i had only known Lola for a couple of days.

"M-my what?" he stutters, looking up at me. it is now that I see the resemblance between him and the girl I love. they're both tanned and have the dark brown doughy eyes that are so easy to get lost in - well Lola's are, I wouldn't say the same for her grandfather. And their height is also very similar, they are both small and petite.

"Your granddaughter sir, it's Lola's sister" I confirm

"Lola's sister" he recites I himself "Where is she?"

"I'm not too sure, neither is Lola. she says she hasn't seen them in about 3 years. they left and she hasn't seen them since."

"Oh yes that's right, i kind of remember now" he squints his eyes as if trying to remember more but then gives up and shakes his head. "My nurse says I have a minor case of Alzheimer's, it will get worse eventually. I barely remember anything anymore. I only really remember Lola and you because I see you everyday" he sighs and I rest my hand on his shoulder.

"Hey, it's okay. We'll help you, okay" I try to comfort him but he shakes his head almost immediately.

"Nono, Lola can't know, she has enough going on as it is. please you cannot tell her". I hesitate a while, before sighing and nodding. it's awful for me to keep something like this from her but it's he own grandfathers wishes, and I know how much she respects and loves him. it's not like he's dying and I'm keeping it a secret, he just has a minor case of Alzheimer's, if it gets worse then I'll tell her but for now I'll do as William asks of me.

"Thankyou so much Harry, I'm so happy that she has someone like you in her life." he pats my shoulder and shoots a sweet smile my way. "I should probably get to sleep now" he says, yawning by coincidence. I nod, getting up and making my way to his bedroom door.

"Goodnight William"

"Goodnight Harry"

I quietly walk back into Lola's bedroom and shutting his door and climb in bed, pulling her warm body towards me and burying my face in her neck whispering 'I love you' repeatedly, over and over again, until I slip into unconsciousness.
