i take a deep breath as i finish curling my hair and run my shaky hands through it.
i check the time. 18:47. he'll be here in 13 minutes.
jimin asked me on a date. he actually asked me out on a date. with him. just thinking about it makes anxiety threaten to wash over my brain.
i shake my head slightly to clear my thoughts and make any little touch ups to my make up.
"y/n! jimin is here!" my mum peeks her head through my door and smiles at me. my eyes widen and i quickly grab my purse.
as i walk down the stairs, i see a nervous looking jimin. he's dressed up in a proper suit and he's fiddling with his sleeve. he hears me and smiles. his cheeks go darker, so i assume he's blushing.
"hi, y/n. you look really pretty." he says quietly whilst looking down at his feet.
this time it's my cheeks turn to heat up.
"hey jimin. you look great too" i reply even quieter as i remember my mum is still in the room with us. she smiles at us.
"aww. you two have fun!" she says before me and jimin leave my house.

"where are we going?" i say as we walk down the road hand in hand. you would've thought i'd be used to it now, but my heart still speeds up every time he holds my hand.
"it's a surprise" he says, the moonlight casting shadows on his subtle smile.
we walk for a long time, and after a while we enter somewhere i've never been. we finally stop in front of a quaint looking restaurant, flowered ivy spiralling up the candle lit pillars by the door. he leads me inside.
it's quite spacious, but it's still cute and cosy at the same time. the tables have candles and flowers in the centre of each, and there are various hanging plants hanging on the walls. as i look around more, there are a lot of plants and glowing  fairy lights twinkling over the happy looking guests.
instead of stopping here, jimin continues to lead me out of a glass door onto a wooden patio. there's one table underneath a roof of white silk that's been pinned up to make a sort of upside down V shape. there's pillows on the two chairs, and the entire thing is lit up by candles and more fairy lights. i look up and see the star speckled sky, making the scene even more beautiful than it already is.
we sit down and jimin looks at me expectedly.
"do you like it?" he says, worry laced in his tone.
all i can do in reply is smile and nod.
"i love it. it's probably one of the nicest things anyone's ever done for me." i eventually say, and he looks down to try and hide is evidently proud smile.

the night seems to go in a blur. we eat, we talk, we laugh. it seems like any other first date, but to me it's so special and i never want it to end. i find it amazing how i can spend hours just spending time with one person and yet i still treasure every second of it.
unfortunately, all good things have to come to an end, and we're now walking through the park on the way back to my house. we stop on a bridge and both look down into the water, the moons reflection rippling slightly from the disturbance of the breeze. we stand in comfortable silence for a while.
"thank you for tonight. it was my first ever date you know. i don't think i could've gone on any other one that could top it though." i look at his side profile and see him smiling.
"i'm glad. there's still one thing i have for you though." he says and takes out a small velvet box from his pocket. he opens it and pulls out a necklace. hanging from it is a heart shaped crystal and also a metal heart with my initials carved in it. he gently spins me around and secures it around my neck before wrapping his arms around my waist. he leans his head forward and kisses my cheek.
"i'm happy you had a good time. i did too. i hope you treasure your necklace. look at it and think of me when you're sad." he says quietly and i can sense that he's smiling.
i smile too, and look down at my neck to see the purple gem shining back at me.
