A young boy with shoulder length black hair sat on a fence, legs swinging limply "Bro bro" he began singing, voice drifting in the strong wind as he looked down the steep hill they lived on

"Breja" The young boy smiled sadly as he managed to see a few kids playing, singing along with them "Stockar och stenar"

Flower petals blew in his face, grass swinging in the wind as his blue eyes closed "Inga goda renar" his voice got weaker as his big eyes watered

"Ingen kommer här fram" He muttered, hands tightening the grip on the wood fence. Romulus barely felt the splinters dig into his palms, the old planks shaking under the strain

"Fören han säger sin käraste namn" He fell backwards, landing softly on the ground "Vad heter han?"

He looked at the sky, watching as birds flew above him through the clouds. A soft hand reached up, as if trying to grab the clouds

"Romulus" he heard his sisters soft voice behind him, turning slowly "Mum made us lunch!"

The girl was called Helena, beautiful dress flowing around her as she held out a hand to the younger boy as flower petals flew around her

His much tanner hand gripped her, pulling himself up "What did she make?" He questioned, wiping some grass off his clothing

"Pancakes!" Her soft voice had a childish excitement to it that only someone that had yet to see the hardships of the world could have, it made him jealous in all honesty

The two siblings began walking to the wooden villa, a comfortable silence between them, the youngest gripped the handle as he pulled the door open. Romulus slid into the house, the shiny wooden floor causing him to stumble with a undignified noise

He heard a woman chuckle, looking up to see his mother, a grin lighting up his face as he walked towards. His thin arms surrounding the waist of the tall female before he was picked up and held against a warm chest.

"Little Romu" His mothers soft voice whispered sweetly to him as she ran a hand through the curly dark brown hair, Romulus looked up at her, she was called Rowena Ravenclaw.

She usually was off at the school, leaving him and his sister confined to the little home that felt like a prison without their mother, and of course they got people to watch at them in the beginning

But they somehow all quit, it's truly a mystery.

The young boy was put onto the floor, taking his plate from the wooden planks before reaching to the pancakes and wincing as the hot food burnt against his finger tips

He brought it up to his mouth, the smell filling his nostrils before he bit into it. The young boy managed to finish it at a surprising speed and earned a amused glance from his mother and a pout from his sister

They always tried to see who could eat the fastest, but pancakes was his favorite after all

When it was finished he got up from his place on the floor, thanking his mother and sticking out his tongue to his sister when Rowena wasn't looking. Romulus ran out to the garden, straight to the tree in the middle.

He grabbed onto the lowest branch, jumping up with a small noise of struggle as the wood scraped against his still soft palms. The young boy managed to slowly make his way up, watching as the sun lowered and the noises from the place where kids would always play began getting quieter and quieter until there was only silence

Romulus looked up at the dark sky, holding out a hand to the small stars. It looked like someone took a black canvas a splashed white onto it, he turned to the house as the fire was lit inside.

Helena sneaked out of the house, mom had already fallen asleep after all "Romu! Time to sleep" she hissed, hands on her hips. The young boy grinned, standing on the branch before beginning to fall back.

He heard his sister shriek, feeling the wind blow against him before he slowed down, lowering until he gently touched the ground. His sister walked over and kicked his side "You goddamn show off!" She muttered, pulling the laughing boy up.

The two siblings managed to creep back into the house, curling up close to the fire with a small fight about who's gonna be the closest but ending up basically just curling next to each other.

Romulus looked at the flames, eyelids feeling heavy as his arms were wrapped around his now sleeping older sister

The last thing he saw before falling asleep was the bright light and feeling safe near the flames
