So, first off I'd just like to say wow! This story has now reached over 9,000 views- something I never could've imagined when I first started writing it. I'd just like to say a massive thank you to each and every person who had read, voted and left a comment. It's very much appreciated and it's the reason I'm adding another chapter! I had originally planned to leave this story alone but since I've had so many people ask me to write more I'm going to add this little bit too it, there probably wont be anymore after this but you never know- if there's enough demand for it I could be tempted! I hope you enjoy this, please do let me know what you think!
Erin's P.O.V.
I'm laying in bed, staring at the flashing green numbers of the alarm clock beside my bed. It's 5.34am on December 25th. I've been awake for hours, listening to the sound of Jay sleeping soundly beside me- waiting.
As the clock changes to show 5.35am the door to the bedroom slowly opens and I can see our daughter standing in the crack of light that shines through. Supressing a smile I close my eyes and pretend to be asleep, counting down from ten in my head.
Three.... Two.... One....
"Mummy! Daddy! Wake up! Santa's been!" Millie screams, jumping on the bed and jumping up and down until Jay reluctantly opens his eyes with a groan.
"What time is it?" He mutters, rubbing his eyes sleepily.
"5.35!" I laugh, sitting up and looking at our daughters grinning face.
Jay sighs and rolls his eyes as he sits up too. "At least it's half an hour later than last year." He mutters. I know, despite his complaining that he loves spending Christmas with our little family, even if Millie does like to wake us up ridiculously early.
"Mummy! Daddy! Come on! Look Santa's been!!" Millie shouts excitedly, bouncing up and down again as Jay shakes his head with a smile at our six year old daughter.
I laugh, getting up and pulling on a sweater before throwing one of Jay's at him. "Come on! Santa might have even brought you something if you're lucky!" I laugh as he climbs out of bed and follows us out of the bedroom, Millie running excitedly ahead of us.
"Can we open them Daddy?" Millie asks, running back over to us before grabbing Jay's hand and tugging him over to the huge pile of presents under the tree.
Jay shoots me a pleading look as I walk towards the kitchen to get a glass of water. We'd told her the night before she had to wait until 7am before she could open anything in an attempt to stop her waking us up at the crack of dawn- something which clearly hadn't worked. "Just let me make a coffee for Daddy first Millie- five minutes!" I call back to her, there's no way I can say no to that excited little face.
Half an hour later the mountain of presents that had built up under our small tree has been decemated, the apartment buried under wrapping paper and new toys. I lean closer to Jay, his arm coming around my waist as we watch our daughter with a smile on our faces.
Millie reaches under the tree and pulls out a small present that I remember wrapping carefully and placing under the tree a few days ago. "This one is for you Daddy!" She shrieks, jumping up excitedly and racing over to Jay with it.
He turns to me with a smile as he takes the small package from Millie, smiling at me as he's sees the familiar hand writing on the tag. "Open it Daddy!" Millie demands, bouncing up and down infront of him as he tears the paper off it frustratingly slowly.
I can feel my heart rate accelerate a little as I wait to see his reaction. I'd spent hours deliberating over this gift before finally making a decision. My smile spreads as I see his forehead crinkle in confusion as he takes in the little pink t-shirt folded up inside the wrapping paper.
I try to supress my grin as he unfolds the shirt, holding it up and reading the writing on the front.
Worlds best big sister.
"Silly Mummy! Daddy can't wear that!" Millie laughs, grabbing the shirt from her Dads hands as he turns to look at me with a huge grin on his face.
"Does this mean?" He asks, trailing off as he takes in my hand resting subconciously on my stomach.
I grin at him. "Millie's going to be a big sister! Merry Christmas!" I laugh as he leans in to kiss me.
