I wake up to the sun, blazing through my purple curtains, covering my floors like butter on a hot cast iron skillet, melting. I drift up rub my eyes and slowly open them to quickly do my boring morning routine. I walk down the stairs and see my mother talking on the phone frantically. I ignore it, and make myself some pancakes. I get the batter made and ladle the mix into a pan and flip it when it's ready. I let the butter melt on it and drizzle the maple syrup over the pancakes. While I'm eating my pancakes, my mom whispers into the phone, "I'm not telling her! She's too young to know!" I look at her quickly and she

turns back and realizes what she has said and done. She starts and says, "Your father...."
