Marigold Abbot was a special girl. Always stuck in a daydream since the day she was left on the Cuthbert's front porch. Of course, the people of Avonlea didn't know this. They only thought what the Cuthbert told them, Marigold was a child of relative who sadly past away. She always wondered where she came from, who her parents were, what life she could have lived.
Mary hated the unknown of her past, or in anything for that matter. She always wanted a story, something that will cure the unsettling feeling that rest at the bottom of her stomach. So, she does what anything child with a wild imagination does, comes up with the story herself. Marilla says it's a waste of time. That she should attend to more important matters like cooking and cleaning, but Marigold thinks that is nothing more than rubbish. She much rather go outdoors and let her imagination take her to far away places. She wanted a way out of Avonlea, just like her best friend, Gilbert Blythe.
Oh, Gilbert Blythe. The name that makes any girl in Avonlea swoon. Well, all except for one. Marigold Abbot, She never saw the the appeal. Although that never stop the girls to think that she was nothing more than a harlot. She could care less. Her friendship with the boy was much more important than what people said.
That was until, a new girl came to Avonlea, and changes everything between the two friends forever.
