Chapter one<3

Monday 8:00am

I was roused from my depressing thought by my best friend - my only friend actually - Clarissa Longwatter. Claire for short. I turned to look at her and couldnt help but wonder as to how we had become friends. Clarissa was like the most popular girl on the school and she was my friend.

Opposites really do attract.

It still felt weird sometimes.......like as if we were going against the rule book of a normal high school's life. Claire, being herself never paid much attention to such ridiculous nonsense.

"what is it now?", i asked her, she tssked, "kat, dont you ever listen to rumours", i shook my head. From the look she gave me, i could tell that she was thinking of how completely hopeless I was. "i'm wondering why I even bothered asking", she said, "Anyway, there's a rumour going round that an exchange student would be coming to school today", she paused ,"aren't you exited?". The importance of the news seemed to have skipped my otherwise uninterested brain. "and this concerns me because?", i arched a brow inquiringly. "Aren't you even a little curious to as to who he might be", she said clearly ignoring my previous comment. I couldnt help the sarcastic expression that came over my face - Honestly, I actually felt it move there, literally speaking. "And you know that said exchange student is a part of the male species because?", I asked. "Oh, pish - posh", she said, "besides why do you always have to ruin what little exitement I have in my life". -like she didnt already have enough exitement. She started sulking after saying this and the pouting look on her face made me smile. She looked so cute when she sulked.

Did i mention that Claire was extremely beautiful!!!

"you know me, always ruining things", she looked at me sharply and i couldnt help the snort of laughter that escaped my lips. "i'm sorry, i couldnt help it", i said after calming down.

Some of her exitement had ebbed out her and suddenly her eyes lit up and a smug smile appeared on her lips. I'd learnt to be cautious everytime she took up that particular expression. "what???", i asked. "you'll see", she said and moved to her sit at the otherside of the classroom. I looked at her quizically and watched as she sat on her seat and turned towards me and discreetly pointed towards the classroom door. Did I really want to see what was at the door.....i asked myself.

Just as i was about to give into temptation , Mr Augustus our Homeroom teacher entered into the class and shot the door with a loud bang, causing everyone to quickly scramble to their seats. "Good morning", Mr. Augustus said in his droning monotone voice. I swear he could make the dead wish for more death than to sit in a class and listen to him for even a half second. "I'm sure you had a lovely weekend but its monday and I expect all seriousessness in my class", He paused looking us over to see if we got his drift. Apparently satisfied with what he saw he droned on; "i'm sure you've all heard but it seems we have a new student today", he paused, waited a bit, then continued in a slightly louder voice, "Mr........Mr.......",,just then the door swished open and an incredibly sexy boy with a light accent said as said owner of voice stepped into the classroom. "Horward sir",.........I hadnt been paying attention to what Mr. Augustus was saying so when i heard this new voice , my head snapped up and i couln't believe my eyes. Mr. Augustus shifted his glasses further up his pointy nose. "Yes, yes, ....Horward.Class this is Mr collin Horward, i'm sure he has a few words to say, please endeavour to welcome him in anyway you can", he finished.

Before my very eyes,stood the most beautiful creature to have ever graced the earth with his presence. I swear, I had blinked twice to make sure my two working eyes weren't playing tricks on me.......they weren't.........oh lord.......

In all the unfortunately uneventful eighteen years of my life i had never laid eyes on such an incredible specimen of the male species......(sigh) I could feel my heart going pitta - patta - pitta - patta. I always thought of romance novels to be quite cliche when they described how incredibly delicious the hero of the book was and how when they laid eyes on them for the very first time, how they lost sense of all the functioning parts of their bodies.I couldnt breathe, i'm not even sure i wanted to anymore. The worst part was that it wasnt only me who noticed how incredibly edible the boy was but practically the whole classroom female population who were practically eyeraping him. I'm not ashamed to say i'm part of them .

Then he spoke and i think i died and woke up in 2 seconds.

That's how sexy his voice was..........

Now the rest of him........that could sever a girls life and she would die happy.

"Actually, i'm ok, dont particularly have anything to say", he replied to Mr Augustus question about him introducing himself. Mr Augustus squinted slightly before saying "well, ok then pick a seat and settle down", and with that he set the class a'buzz with chattering. Now, unfortunately for me and the rest of the class - the girls i mean - the only available seat was behind mine and i definitely wasnt appreciating the daggers girls were shooting at me through their eyes as Collin made his way to his new seat.

I for one wasnt even paying attention to anything. I mean could you blame me, as he walked past my seat, i got entranced by the light smell of his expensive colonge. Boy.......did he smell delicious!!!

It seemed as if everyone - girls - held their breaths as he settled in before their attention was called to the front of the classroom as Mr. Augustus began reading the attendance. I had to instruct myself to breathe before turning to look at Claire who looked entirely too cheeky for my liking. As I finally was able to get myself to pay attention for the rest of the period, I knew my life was about to change drastically.

The problem.......

Was it for the better or for the worse??........
