Drake's POV
"First Bank is booking you all a trip to Florida, for a meeting with the head administrator. Hotel rooms and plane tickets are all on me." Mr. Teo, my boss, looked at us all before continuing. "You'll be leaving the day after tomorrow, so I suggest you start packing. Okay?"
We all nodded. Florida? Sounds like a nice little vacation. I just think Kelsie won't like it. I mean, mainly because I'm leaving and she and Liyah don't get to go. Maybe another time we'll get to have a family vacation.
We, meaning all of the workers here at First Bank, are dismissed, and I gather my binders and other paper. I slide them into a sloppy stack and attempt to carry it all, but my papers fall and scatter all over the floor, along with everything else.
"Great," I mutter and begin to clean up the mess, kneeling down and picking up the papers one by one.
A pair of pink heels appear in my field of vision, and I look up to see a woman with jet black hair and shining green eyes staring down at me.
"Need some help?" She beams down at me with happiness.
"Uh, yeah," I say awkwardly. This woman is beautiful. Sure, Kelsie is pretty, but this girl is stunning, and somehow it's hard to pull my eyes away from hers as she kneels down with me, despite her skirt/suit business attire.
We both successfully clean up and we both stand, staring at each other.
I hold my hand out. "I'm Aubrey, but everyone I know calls me Drake." I smile lightly.
The woman's smile falls quickly, her face a mask of disbelief.
I frown. "Is something wrong?"
She blinks a few times. "Uh, no I'm fine." She throws me a tight smile. "I'm Onika, nice to meet you. Mr. Teo hired me as his assistant yesterday." She takes my hand and shakes it.
We leave the now empty conference room and head to my small little office. "So, this is an all of a sudden question, but can we go out sometime? Like, maybe we can hit up that Dave and Busters they just built not too far from here." I set down my stuff on my desk and rub my neck, nervous.
Onika's eye light up. "Sure! Tonight?"
"Yes."
"Of course," she replies, the biggest smile on her face. Dimples appear on her cheeks, making me grin.
"Great! Here's my number." I pull my buisiness card from out of my pocket. "Call me whenever you're ready to leave, okay? And text me whenever, so I can save your number to my phone. You'll have to pick me up, I'm taking my car to the mechanic's."
"That sound wonderful." She beams and exits the room.
There's something about her that I'm feeling. Something draws me to her for some reason. Did I know Onika before? Was she once a part of my life? Maybe she was a good friend. I wouldn't remember, though, so I'll have to ask Kelsie.
I walk over to my desk, pull my phone off the charger, and text Kelsie:
Me: Aye, Teo just told me that I got a business trip to Florida on Thursday. Is that okay with you?
It takes a minute, but she responds, Yeah its fine why
I hate the way Kelsie texts. Using slang and shit, no punctuation. "lol" and "ttyl" and all that gets on my fucking nerves.
