It had been at least a few days since Twilight had last seen Fluttershy. After asking her friends, it seemed to be the same for them too. So, while the wind howled through snowy Ponyville, Twilight bundled herself up with a big fluffy coat, and headed on down to Fluttershy's cottage.

Upon arrival, nothing seemed out of the ordinary. Then, she noticed that a thin layer of ice had formed over the door from not being used. Had Fluttershy really not left her house in almost a week? This kind of behavior might have been considered normal close to Nightmare Night, but it was nearly Hearths Warming for Celestia's sake! Shrugging off her worry, Twilight smiled and knocked politely on the door. She stepped back awaiting a response, but there was no answer. So, she decided to knock again, a bit more forcefully this time.

"Fluttershy? Are you in there? It's just me, Twilight, coming to check on you...?" Twilight called as she rattled the door, curious as to her friend's odd behavior.

Finally, Twilight heard a lock unlatch, and the door creaked slightly open. The door was only opened enough for Twilight to see Fluttershy's small form, shaking in the darkness.

"W-what do you want?" Fluttershy whispered, attempting to sound annoyed, but it was clear that she was slightly relieved to see a familiar face.

"I'm just seeing if you're okay. Me and the girls have been a little worried at your absence these past few days. Are you.. alright?" Twilight couldn't help but let the worry slip out in her voice. It was then that she noticed a strange smell, sweet but powerful.

"I'm quite alright Twilight, thank you for asking. I'm just.. getting over a cold, yeah. I should be okay in a few more days... or maybe a week..." Fluttershy trailed off as she realized how bad she was at lying.

"Fluttershy, if you really do have a cold, let's go down to Zecora's and get you something to help, although I have a feeling this is something far different from a cold," Twilight's pupils had expanded slightly, the look on her face one of compassion and understanding.

"O-okay so, maybe it's not a cold... but I don't think you can help me anyway.." Fluttershy sounded dejected, like she had already given up before even knowing the challenge.

"Fluttershy, I know what's going on, and I can help you." Twilight stepped forward slightly, illuminating her horn to reveal that Fluttershy was in her bathrobe.

"H-how..?"

"Simple. Normally you'd need a stallion to make estrus go away quicker, or at least be more manageable, but using my magic I can take the place of a stallion for you, since I know you don't like stallions," Twilight saw a confused look cross Fluttershy's face, "B-but! Only if you want to! I just thought, since we're friends, and-and," Fluttershy cut off Twilight by laying a hoof on her shoulder gently.

"Twilight, I will let you help me, but just.. promise me one thing okay?"

"Yeah?"

"This stays between us for now." Fluttershy whispered.
Twilight nodded in response, laying her hoof over Fluttershy's.

"Of course, Fluttershy. That's what friends are for, right?"

Twilight stepped into the cottage and shut the door.

The sheet of ice slid off.
