Izuku's POV

Ever since I was a child, I dreamed of becoming a musician. I set on this dream when I went to Toshinori Yagi's concert. He was the greatest pianist to ever live, my idol. I still don't know how but I managed to get my mum to buy the tickets. Music was the number one thing she hated the most. It would be a nightmare for her to see her son become a musician, even worse - a pianist. Countless times I begged her to explain why music and not anything else, but every time she answered: "I don't want you to end up like your dad". Years later she finally told me that my dad was a pianist, and a great one. He travelled around with concerts and brought us money since mum couldn't work , until one day he left. Forever. My mum couldn't allow her son to abandon her as well, and I truly understand her caution. But for the first time in my life I want to prove her wrong. I will become the best musician the world has seen, to bring joy to people and to make my mum proud. Proud to have a son like me.

When I was in Year 1 from time to time we would have mini concerts where children would perform on their instruments, but not me. I was the only one who didn't play anything, and that is when my suffering started. I was bullied for being an uneducated loser, but being so stupid. There was this boy, Kacchan, he played the piano. We used to be very good friends in kindergarten since it wasn't really revolved around music, but as time passed his anger to me grew more and more. Until one day, everything changed.

I was in Year 8 at that time - around 13 years old. It was a sunny afternoon, I was sitting on a bench on the playground next to our apartment, trying to learn the names of the notes in an app on my phone so my mum wouldn't see , when Kacchan came up to me, grabbed my phone and started laughing. He grabbed me by the collar of my shirt and started yelling across the whole area:
"Ha, look at you! You don't even know the names of the notes, while I can play so many pieces you can't even count up to that number with your stupid brain!" He threw me to the ground as my head hit a metal pole.

I fell over, tasting the damp earth and screaming out in pain.

"Kacchan, please! It hurts..." I quietly murmur, hoping he won't hear it.

"What was that, DEKU?" Kacchan came closer at put his foot on my face.

"You say something? Oh right, I forgot to mention that I don't speak loser language. Try to learn something next time, maybe someone will understand your murm-"

"Stop it! Can't you see he's hurt?" A voice came from behind.

"What?" Kacchan turned around to see who was interrupting his beating-up session.

"I said, stop what you're doing and LEAVE HIM ALONE!" when suddenly a small figure dashed to Kacchan and hit him in the face.

"So long, LOSERS! I-I'm not finished with you D-DEKU" Kacchan stomped away, clearly hiding his tears from us.

"Oh my god are okay? Here, I'll help you stand up" the sweet voice asked as I wiped the mud of my face to see a girl with short brown hair looking at me with a questioned face.

"Oh-h, t-thanks for helping m-me!" I say stuttering, in fear of what may come next.

"I'm Ochaco Uraraka, nice to meet you!" she reaches her hand out for me, I'm still sitting in the puddle of mudd.

"I'm Izuku Midorya!" I say cheerfully, understanding that she doesn't want to do anything bad to me. Then I realise that she was in my class, but I don't think she recognized me. Oh god, everything is even worse that I thought.

"Here, let's go to my flat so I can help you with the scars." she said as I look at my arms cut up and bruised.

"S-sure" I say, slightly blushing.

As we were walking she suddenly stopped. Oh no.

"Wait, which school do you go to?" She said looking me straight into the eye.

"Ugh.. the one down the road next to the coffee shop" I say trying not to stutter or be weird. Yeah that didn't really work.

Ochaco started mumbling to herself.

Oh my she is just like me

After a minute or two she suddenly screams: "WAIT YOU'RE IN MY CLASS OH GOD I'M SO SORRY"

"Hey, hey calm down it's okay it's not your fault. I mean, I didn't realize you were in my class until told me your name!" I said in a soothing tone when her face suddenly changed from panicked to calm.

"Okay then, so Izuku!" she unconsciously yelles out blushing a little bit.

"Y-yes..." I answered still surprised from the sudden change of attitude.

"Do you want to... be friends?" she asked, hoping for a positive answer.

"Of course!" I said, a big smile appeared on her face.

"Okay then, let's get going - we need to disinfect those cuts as soon as possible! Right, friend Izuku..." she says quietly giggling.

"Right, friend Ochaco..." I answer and we both start laughing.

That was the first time I made a friend. A true friend.
