Angel

“Mommy, where are you going?” Tears began to drip along my cheeks as I saw my mommy departing.

“Oh you’ll be back? “

She turned her head looking at me with angry eyes and nodded.

“Ok mommy I’ll be waiting.”

A faint smile appeared on my small lips.

My name is Angel Melody,15 years old, I always do things that upsets many people making them leave me.

My friends, everyone, mommy and daddy. Why?! Am I that bad? What did I do?
Even if I am always the one who always get hurt, the one who always receives all the pain, the one who always gets left out .

“Angel, you’re so emotional”

I said to myself while sighing.

Seven years have passed since my mommy left me in this orphanage

It was a catholic orphanage being run by nuns.

The nuns treated me like I’m their own daughter filling the gap my mother left me.

However, even if the nuns treated me good, the other children despised me.

I noticed that even if I tried hard to change myself I still drive people away.

Time to get up Angel. Start your day right with a smile on your face.

Be optimistic, today’s the day you were born and the day your mother left you.

It’s sad isn’t it?

The day you were born is the day your mother left you.

Maybe she thinks that by leaving me, it  would make me perish but no.

Without her leaving me I wouldn’t have met my family in this orphanage.

The family that really loves me excluding the other kids of course, those bitches hate me.

I realized it was time to go at the convent and do my daily routines and chores.

When I was walking I saw Emily and Sophia, and yes they hate me alright, walking towards my direction.

“Hey Emily look! It’s the little good for nothing idiot.” Sophia said while Emily blocked my path.

“ What are you still doing here? you’ve been here for the past 7 years and you’re still not leaving yet?”.

Emily hissed and glared at me.

“You know Angel, You’re being a burden to this orphanage.  Stop being a leech and get out of here already.”  Sophia added.

They walked away laughing and staring at me with disgust. *sigh* I remained silent not letting those words affect me.

Why do people always wants to bring others down?

They are of the same species and is the most intelligent on all lifeforms on earth and yet this is their kind of thinking.

Well, humans have emotions, differences and a sense of inferiority I guess that’s the cause.
Why am I talking like I’m not a human myself?

Even they are bullying me and even if their attitude is as bas as hell, I learned to cope with them and understand them. They hate me because I was the most favored by the nuns in this institution.
Emily, the one that called me a witch was the only survivor of a fire that burned an entire orphanage. Firefighters saw her in the middle of a raging fire beside a pile of rubbish and amidst that rubbish was her beloved mother figure. Imagine if you saw you’re family, friends, being burned to ashes, their faces being turned into crisp In front of your eyes.

The second one Sophia, is the one of the survivors of a shipwreck. They were having  the time of their lives when a lighting struck  their ship. The horror she must been through. The lives of your love ones and countless people drowning.

There attitude is like that for a reason. Many people always judge people like that without knowing what's the cause why they turned out to be that kind of person.

Even if this is a catholic orphanage there is always bullying.

I walked until I reached the convent.

When I got there I saw Sister Deen, the head of the nuns sitting in a chair reading a letter.
“ Sister Deen, umm Could I have a moment with you?”
I said to her while taking a seat.

“ Yes angel?”. She replied with a voice that seem to make you feel comfortable.

“ Can I go to school?”  I blurted.

Please say yes! Please say yes!

“Angel….uhmm…I know you’re now mature and is in the right age but what will you do if your classmates found out about your secret?”

”but…..”. I pleaded with my watery eyes.

“ No buts… *sigh* today is your birthday? Am I right? As gift I will enroll you tomorrow on a nearby catholic school.”

“ok, but sister can I ask a favor?”

“What dear?”

"Can you help me keep my secret with the help of the of your connections in that school?"

"No! If your classmates finds out it's over."

"Sister, pretty please....that is why I needed your help sister in order for me to keep my secret."

“*sigh* I know I can’t win against you but if any of your classmates finds out, I’ll send you to another orphanage”

“really? reaaaaaaally?!”  I shouted really loud it echoed through the halls ignoring the fact that I can be transfered to another orphanage if I'm exposed.

“ I said yes….stop shouting! but if someone finds out about your secret I will not let you stay in school…got it? Tomorrow let’s leave first thing in the morning and go to the nearby school I was talking about” Sister said.

“Yes sister!” Oh my gosh…! I cant believe this is happening! Me going to school? It’s like I’m dreaming.

I hugged her and left the room with a pretty wide grin.

Again with my secret.

My secret is I can make anyone who looks into my eyes see their time of death and how they died. Of course it's up to me if I let them see but sometimes when my emotions are bursting due to some external factors I accidentally make all who is within 1 meter radius around me see how they can die in the most gruesome way possible causing them to faint. This already happened when I was in pre-school.
Back then I couldn't control my powers causing my classmates to be traumatized and scarred for life. The teacher noticed that I was the only one left standing after all of them fainted and thought that I may have caused that very unusual and scary event. Even she was affected. My teacher concluded that when she looked into my eyes she saw that she was hanging with a rope tied to her neck on her room. She then called me a witch and said that I should never go back to school for I am a demon.
My 6 year old heart was shattered to pieces and I never went back to school again.
Sister Nelsa, who is also a teacher, homeschooled me for many years after the incident.

It’s already nighttime when I am done with my chores.
I got back at my room because I'm exhausted and ready to slam my face at the comfort of my pillow.
As I closed my eyes, I muttered.
“Mom, Dad, look at me now I’m all grown up, tomorrow they will let me go to school. Goodnight, wherever you are…” My eyes fluttered until I fell to a deep sleep full of excitement.
