Strong Enough

"Oh Millie.." Phil said gently seeing her shaking as he made his way over to sit by her and moved in close enough that their legs touched and wrapped his arm around her shoulders as her cries and breathing got really rapid.

"Hey hey shhhh Millie hey breathe sweetheart" Phil said rubbing her back to try and soothe her.

"I-I can't" Millie cried grabbing into his arm petrified

"Honey it's okay just try and focus on me look at me and take some deep breathes" Phil said continuing to rub her back as Millie did her best to calm herself down and do what he said. "That's it now good girl we don't wanna have you both in the hospital now do we?" He added with a half laugh as she smirked and shrugged still crying.

"No guess not.." Millie said as she went quiet sighing and sniffling.

"Look I know it must be really hard for you lately. Having to keep a brave face for your mom. This is a lot to deal with just know that I think you're stayed so strong for so long that you bottled it up and now this incident caused your emotions to erupt out from the inside. It's okay to not be okay sometimes you're allowed to cry it's totally valid in a time like this.." Phil said with a hand on her leg.

"Thanks uncle Phil..it's just been hard I'm just afraid of crying in front my mom cuz it would upset her so much and Im afraid of making her addiction worse then it really is when I express emotion about it .." Millie said

"Kid none of this in any way is your fault you hear? Don't blame yourself. The only person who should be taking responsibility and taking this seriously is your mom. If she gets out of this alive I will help you throw together a intervention for her once she gets out. Whatever happens Amber,Bubbles and I'll be here to help you with everything.You know that I always said I'd be here since your dad left and If I know your mom being she's my best friend I know that this will be a huge Wakeup call for her and she'll likely want the help so it's worth a shot" Phil said

"Okay thanks uncle Phil. I'm just glad I know I'm safe to cry with you.." Millie said wiping her eyes starting to break down again.

"Ooh no no awww sweetheart cmere..you need a hug?" Phil asked as he opened his arms out to Millie as she nodded arms around his neck crying with her in his shoulder.

"Hey..it's okay kid.. I gotcha..your uncle Phil's here..You don't need to hold anything back you let it all out..it's alright to cry.." he whispered to her as he rocked her his arms around her waist as she began to sob harder while he continued to rub her back.

"It feels..so much better being able to let it out.." sniffled Millie

"Good good you gonna be okay?" Phil asked

"Not until I know she's okay..I just I just need you to hold me.." she whimpered

"And that I can do dear..you just relax. No matter the outcome I'm gonna take good care of you" Phil said. Millie nodded as she hugged him even tighter sniffling. Phil turned his face very slightly planting a kiss on cheek in a fatherly manner.

"I love you.." Millie said her words muffled with her face still in his shoulder

"I love you too. We will get through this Millie Bean" He Said calling her by the nickname he and Connie called her since she was little.

"Where's Amber and Bubbles?" she asked as she pulled away from the embrace looking at him

"They're in the waiting room do you wanna go and sit with them?" Phil asked

"Yeah I think I'm okay to see them now. Hey thanks. You know just what to say Uncle Phil" Millie said as she gave him another brief hug

"Of course dear now cmon" Phil said as he took her hand and lead her back the waiting room. Amber and Bubbles noticed and got up to hug Millie.

"We got chu!" Amber said smiling trying to cheer up Millie as Millie smiled thanking her as she sat between Phil and Bubbles.

Around an hour later a Doctor came out. And everyone stood up ready to hear what he had to say.

"Are you the family and friends of Connie Edwards?"

"Yes we are. Is my mom gonna be okay?" Millie asked holding Phils arm nervous for the reply.

"Her heart stopped quite a few times but after multiple attempts we were successful in reviving her. She is gonna be fine for now" the doctor said as everyone sighed in relief. "But if you want her to be kept alive she needs to get help and consider go to rehab as soon as she's discharged if she keeps up with the sugar she will die"

Phil nodded as he took in the words the doctor told them and nodded they were going to have to work together to convince Connie to get the help she needs. It wouldn't go down without a fight. It was gonna likely be hard. But Millie really needed her mom and he needed his best friend and partner and Phil was willing to die trying. He could not continue to watch Connie slowly die and wait in agony until someone gave him that dreaded call. He had almost lost her times before when she gotten shot and when she and him had that falling out in their friendship and this was the third. He sure as hell was gonna make sure he would never lose her again.
