Growing up the society told me that "women should belong to the kitchen and to serve her man"

having this perception for decades passed from my great grand mother to my grand mother to my mother, she choose not to pass it on, she believed that I can be anything.

I was sitting with my grandmother the other day, happy conversation on late Sunday night with a warm cup of tea and snack on a side while watching the news, then he came with a wide smile on his face saying

"Salam Alaykum "
(peace been upon you)
" walaykum salam "
(peace been upon you too)
We replied
"Come join us the tea is still warm "
said my grandmother
"Thank you, i would love too"
He said
Soon later my other part of the family members gathered to greet their relative member.

"Am full"
said my cousin and he's about step out from the room
"Hey why don't you pick up those cups and plates if they are done eating, take it to the kitchen"

I asked him, he's going out anyways and its pretty normal in our home if boys will help in chores but that was new to my relative and he didn't like the idea of boys helping in simple chores" he was mad and he started yelling at him

"Omg, Why are u listening to her??
Why are you taking orders from girls ?! Aren't you men enough?"
Men up!!!
with angry loud voice.

And i was really disappointed to see this,
knowing that some men believe that "women belong in the kitchen"
Isn't it sad?! With my softest voice and chilled faced I replied

"Well listen, you came to our home and this is how its done here, our home our rules" and my Aunty and grand mother weren't happy with his reaction luckily they got my side.

I have learned that we are not the same, we have different perspectives on how we see the world.

To me those little things in life helped me to see differences of people.

I remember watching my mom hanging clothes and she asked me to help her and she told me that

"No matter how hard life get, remember don't give up, people will come to your life, some will hurt you, some of them will bring you down, but you need to keep going and you need to learn".

And this is the best advice I could give to my young self ...
