The Guy at the Record Shop

I huffed irritably as I made my to my local record shop to blow off some steam. I had just been laid off from my job at the drive and my band's first show was at Churchill's Pub down in Miami this weekend, so the stress was on. I accidentally pushed the pull door and screamed the word 'fuck' to myself, but audibly to those around me, earning a smirk from the guys working cash. I rolled my eyes and walked to the back corner of the store. I sat on the floor and began rummaging through the records which were at an arms length from me.

About an hour had passed when I finally pulled out the one thing I'd hoped to find. I let out a breath of relief that I didn't know I was holding in.

"The Cure, huh?" I jumped slightly and turned to look over my shoulder. I was greeted by a pair of slender legs covered by black ripped jeans. "Eyes up here!" The guy joked, making a gesture to his face with his middle and index fingers.

"Fuck off." I said jokingly with a snort. When I looked up I was greeted by a pair of calming brown eyes. "You look familiar..have I seen you around?" I asked, standing up with the record in hand.

"I play in a band, Marilyn Manson and the Spooky Kids. Maybe you've seen us open a show?" I did finger-guns towards him and mentally facepalmed myself.

"That's right. We're actually playing a show together this weekend. I'm the vocalist of The Guttersnipes." I said stretching out a hand. He took it and held it for a second while looking at me intently.

"You must know Jessica, she's dating my bassist. I've seen a polaroid of the two of you in her room." He said, letting go of my hand as we walked to the register. I laughed remembering the day that photo was taken.

"Oh boy, I remember but also do not remember that night. She was really nice, but I hardly remember anything else about her." I scratched the back of my neck awkwardly as he rang up the Kiss Me, Kiss Me, Kiss Me record.

"My bad." He said putting the record in a bag along with my receipt. "Y'know this record will get you laid right?" He asked with a smirk.

"Is that so?" I sarcastically asked, raising an eyebrow.

"Works that way for me every time." He said with a wink. I rolled my eyes and headed towards the door with my purchase. "Hey, I'll see you Saturday!" He called after me as I walked out the door. I responded with a half assed wave and headed to the storage unit for practice.

"Yo, Ally, the hell is up with you tonight?" Rudy my guitar player asked as I paced on the concrete.

"Dude, I'm fine. Let's just focus on getting our set show ready." I tried walking back to the mic but was stopped by our drummer Jon. I let out a sigh and looked at everyone.

"The Drive In let me go today." I said defeatedly. Everyone stayed quiet until Jake, our bassist spoke up.

"Y'know, fuck that place. They're going to go out of business soon anyways with all the theaters popping up." He said placing a hand on my shoulder.

"Yeah, just find some rich dude to be your sugar daddy!" Rudy chimed in.

"Speaking of dudes," I said walking to the couch, "I met one of the guys in the Spooky Kids today and he seemed pretty rad. Do you guys know them or anything about them?" I asked, checking the time.

"I know they're super reckless onstage and sacrificed a chicken or something." Jake said with a weirded out expression.

"Brutal." Jon commented. I raised an eyebrow quizzically.

"Huh, he seemed like a soft kid to me but I guess we'll see." I said, standing up wearily. We practiced for about three more hours until we knew we had to call it quits. I dreaded tomorrow being my last shift at the drive in. Of course they'd stick me with a Friday night as a farewell. Though I didn't want the next day to come, I knew it had to pass in order to get to Saturday. It's safe to say my curiosity excited me more than the drive in repulsed me.

A/N: Short chapter, I know. The more feedback I get, the longer the chapters will be. :)
