The perfect little life of Annalise Jameson was shattered to pieces on a death defying night where she became something she that was truly terrified of. She had always been afraid to be a monster; some cruel, vicious creature that had left all means of humanity.

However, there was never really a choice. There was no say in what she was to become because Edward Masen was dying and she would do anything to save her friend. But she was still torn between the choice of letting him go at his time or going against nature and everything she believed in so he could live. She wanted him to live a happy, full life, but the price of that was something she didn't want to force onto him. She didn't want to be the reason he would become a monster, the ones she feared so.

And yet she put Edward before herself, her family, her life, and begged Carlisle to bite him, to save him. And before she could even react, Carlisle had snapped her neck too, leading them both into a life as immortals. While Edward became the thing she had despised the most, Annalise had become his protector, his dhampir.
