What jolted me awake was unknown, whether it be the sound of Kila and Sable snoring, or the sound of the starting rain. Waking up these days was different than the past. Instead of hearing sirens or gun fire, you heard silence. The worst thing to hear after a war, no life, no sound, no comfort of a home.
I prop myself up on my shoulder to see if the rain had woken up Kila and Sable but as I check all I see is the steady rise and fall of their chests as they continue to sleep. I pull up the sleeve of my shirt, checking my watch. It reads 8:00 am, Sable hates when I look at my watch. It reminds her of all the times she choose to read her books in the quite of her room rather than spending it with the family. I hate it when I catch her with quilt in her eyes and a frown on her face. A crack of thunder jolts me from my thoughts as I continue to dwell on the past. I quickly but quietly pull the cover of my sleeping bag down and get up from my spot on the floor. I walk pass our sleeping area making sure not to wake Sable or Kia, they'd have my head if I did.*sorry I know it's short, I'll try to add onto it but school is a pain, anyways hope you enjoy 😊!
