There's nothing better in life than listening to your parents fight. For the millionth time. Maybe two millionth. Really, who keeping track anymore? This is my life. My parents go out and have a few drinks then come home to fight about something dumb. They never actually hit each other, it's just all verbal. Don't get me wrong, my parents love each other. A lot. Alcohol and them just don't mix.
I don't want to say it, but I'm used to the fighting. Every night all night until you eventually pass out? Don't tell me you wouldn't get used to it either.
I went up to my room, which is the attic. I have it all decorated pretty, a huge blue marble looking rug, a king size memory foam bed nestled under the only window in the room, the rafters are painted baby blue, posters of some of my favorite bands are plastered along the walls. It's not much but I love it.
I could still hear them fighting, so I decide to go out on the roof via my window and chill there for a few. I bring my phone and check out twitter before I hear music blasting from the house next door. It's Pink Floyd I know that much. What a bop. I would much rather prefer to hear some Nine Inch Nails or Pearl Jam, but I'm not one to complain about music.
I was sitting on the roof for a solid hour before my neighbor dude guy noticed me.
"Hey! What are you doing out here on the roof?" He asked me.
"Parents are fighting. I thought I'd come up here and get away from it," I told him truthfully. I wasn't going to say it right to his face, but he's pretty damn attractive. It may be dark out here, but I can see that he's a good-looking boy.
"I mean, you don't know me, but would you want to come over and hang out? I have a few friends over, but I'm sure they wouldn't mind someone else over here too." I thought about it for a few seconds. It sounded nice and maybe I could make a new friend while I'm at it.
"Sure, I would love to."
"Sweet! Just climb on over, your roof is long enough is get over here." I was skeptical but he was right, I made it over with no problem. I saw the others he was talking about and not going to lie, I immediately got shy. I'm not the shy kind of person, I'm more outgoing if anything, but as soon as I saw them I couldn't help but to feel that way.
"This is Sam, Josh, and Jake Kiszka. I'm Daniel Wagner, but everyone calls me Danny or Dan." Sam shot a glare at Danny.
"I call him his real name, Daniel," he removed his brown eyes from Danny and moved them to look at me. I could automatically tell he was the youngest of not only the brothers, but of the whole group just from the way he seems to be carefree.
"I'm Autumn Jones, nice to meet you guys," I flashed a bright white smile at them, receiving one back from the four of them. Maybe I could learn to like these guys, after all they didn't seem that bad. They weren't listening to rap music so that's a plus.
After a few hours of hanging out, listening to music, and getting to know each other, I felt like it was time to go home. If I wasn't careful, my parents would eventually figure out I snuck out to hang out with some boys. My dad would kill me while my mom would just wonder if we had sex. And even if I lied and said yes to her, she still wouldn't care as long as I didn't come home pregnant.
I hugged all of the boys and said goodbye before eventually crawling back through the window to go home and go to bed.
The next morning, I woke with a start. My alarm was going off, the message reading 'house warming party today'. "Fuck," I said under my breath before getting up and going to the bathroom my dad built for me in the attic. Good thing he did this for me because if he didn't.... Let's just say, I'd be a mess. I spend half of my life in the bathroom.
I get all ready, neatly curling my black shoulder length hair, brushing my straight white teeth, and applying makeup that complements my icy blue eyes. One would say picture perfect, but I don't feel perfect. I go back to my room to grab a matching set of black lace underwear and bra and a red mid thigh length dress.
I get all dress and head downstairs to help my mom with whatever it is that needs to be finished, be it the decorations, food, music. Everything. I heard the doorbell ring and my mo told me to go greet the guests, so I did. I walked to the front door, my hair bouncing as I walked. When I opened the door, I wasn't expecting it to be Danny and his whole family plus the Kiszka's. This was going to be a great time, I just knew it.
