Grace's POV

The alarm clock flashes 6:45 with its high ear piercing buzz filling the air.

"Argh, I'm awake." I yell grabbing at the machine, accidently pressing radio.

Where did I go wrong I lost a friend somewhere along in the bitterness- Slamming on the off button, I jump up and out of bed. I'm rushing around my small room trying to assemble my uniform for the first day of year 10. Shirt. Shoes. Blazer. Socks. Jumper. Skirt. Once ready I slide down the banister of the stairs downstairs.

"Grace, how nice, you are on time!" mum says as she looks up from the paper.

"Millie, how usual, you are reading the paper!" I retort back to my mum.

We have a close relationship, always joking and completely laidback, just like I normally am.

My mum, Millie, has curly hair, like me, but mum's is golden blonde ringlets while mine is deep chocolate brown super wavy curls.

I have green eyes that everyone says are super bright, but I don't think they are anything out of ordinary.

My dad, Ben has blonde hair, slightly dark, more a dirty blonde so it's a mystery how my hair is brown but they say Grandad had dark hair. Dad works a lot so he gets home late but he has to completely support mum, Hope and I so it makes sense. Hope is my older sister. She is 21 and has a very serious boyfriend, Claude. She stays either at home with mum, dad and me or with Claude while she's studying hairdressing at the nearest TAFE.

More about me though, my name is Grace Stone. I live in Sydney Australia, I'm currently 16 about to turn 17 in 17 days. I go to the local private school. I love art! Anything crafty is a passion, though I must say that drawing is a natural talent. I even have a studio in our house. It's my old bedroom, now it's my art studio. It is the best room in the house, it's the attic! It has a view of the town and the room is at least double the size of my bedroom. My bedroom is tiny, and I'm talking harry-potter-has-had-bigger-bedrooms small. My favourite colour is silver, debate whether or not it's a colour later please. I love avocado especially with Nachos. Just like usual I am now running late for school

After begging mum for a lift, I manage to get driven to school and arrive at the gates while the bell is ringing. I see Jack and April sitting on a picnic table near the gates, waving I walk over to them.

"What's new? Surprise me please." I say as they pick up their bags and walk towards me.

"Um, you're late. Wait, that's not new!" Jack acts fake surprised, then sarcastically rolls his eyes, using hand gestures and being overly dramatic.

"Lily is sick today, I heard rumours of there being a new kid; that girl that's trying to be my new best friend told me," April says ticking them off on her fingers.

"Poor lily, I'll text her in a minute. That Jenna has always been clingy, oh well we shouldn't judge her, she's just being polite," I say nodding.

"Too true, Gracie is always right, judging people is for the 'oh-so-cool' popular kids, we are not popular, we are rejects but we are the coolest rejects in the world so I can't blame people for wanting to hang out with me, I mean, us!" Jack says waving his hands around.

"Darling your gay is showing," I giggle. April giggles with me.

"Shut it, y'all." Jack glares at us. "You both know that I'm actually not gay, ya retards,"

"Meh," I laugh.

April has jaw length spikey brown hair which always seems a different colour tips and the palest skin ever. Today she has her latest beanie, a deep green baggy one that really makes her brown eyes sparkle. Jack has blonde hair and resembles Olly Murs a lot, though Jack is as thin as a stick because he does so much track running. I've got my hair in a messy bun with a few curls hanging loose. The bun is tied up with an oversized blue pastel bow.

"April did Jenna say what the new kid looks like?"

"She said she heard it's a guy, but I don't know really," April says vaguely.

"So it might be that guy at reception," I say seeing a figure down the hall, standing outside of the office.

"Yeah maybe," April says as we walk into the classroom, giving the figure one last glance.
